Hello
The 45 AUTO reviews that I did were shot with a Walther PPQ 45 with a polygonal 4*¼ inch barrel.

First I do forensic exam of the ammunition. Next I shoot a group while chronographing. Targets were were set at 15 yards. Chronograph is a Oehler 35P

Then one round of each ammunition brand is shot into a 55 gallon plastic barrel of water. The bullet is then recovered, photographed and then measured for expansion. In cases where the bullet fragments and loses its jacket, a weight is taken with all the recovered material and also a weight taken with just the lead core.
Here is the link to all the photos of the review;

Couldn't hold a group very well with this one for some reason. Expansion was quite acceptable given the modest velocity. Nice 230gr SD load.

Some pistols are fussy with certain ammo, could be the case with your 230 Grain group test.

Knowing the expansion is nice, knowing penetration would definitely be a plus.

Hi.. Yea haven't got into the jelly thing yet.
One thing about water.. Doesn't matter where you are on the planet, as long as it's in the liquid state, water is water. You don't have to take its temperature or calibrate it, it's just water. That being the case, water is a reliable, repeatable, consistent media to compare one product against another. Water and jelly are just simulations to represent the purpose for which this kind of ammunition is designed for. Just simulations. Reality is reality. I can't imagine this ammunition not providing acceptable penetration. But, to your point, jelly does provide interesting visuals.
