Just heard to day that Remington is taking
there 22lr back. We all know it's junk so if what
I heard is true Remington is going to make it
right. If anyone can confirm this let us know.

Call Remington.

After about 50 of a 525 pack failed to fire after repeated attempts, these were the bulk packed "Golden Bullet" in the milk carton looking container. All other brands work great in my 597 Rem. which is ironic. I think the Arms Co. and the Ammo manufacturing might be seperately run or owned though, anyone know for sure?

My B-I-L gave me two of the 525 round value packs and as soon as I use them up, I will never buy any due to having quite a few duds. Nice looking box and name though. Mainly what I buy is the Federal 550 Value packs from Walmart for $13.99.

News to me but if its true its about time. I typically have a 10% failure to fire rate. Open them up and there is no primer in them. I've sworn them off already.

Worst stuff on the market and it's been that way since the 90's. Now is way too little, way too late.

Remington needs MUCH better quality control on their .22's, and I've been disappointed with their centerfire rifle ammo, too. I have to clean it off and sometimes, round off very flat points on bullets. Their Reduced Recoil .270's impressed me, except that I had some feeding problems in my M-70 Winchester. The problem was flat, rough bullet points.

When I scraped off excess lead and smoothed the points, all went well.

Yeah... their .22s are just awful. I'll still buy them when the price is right... but they sure do have a high percentage of **** rounds.

They work just fine for me?? I find their Golden Bullet feeds much better than the Win Xpert truncated nose which jams in every one of my guns.

Yes, there are some duds but for range plinking cheap ammo it doesn't bother me. I have "many" bricks of it. We are not talking match ammo here.
Works the same or better than most "bulk" ammo.

I feel lucky to have what I have.

Only bought 2 bricks, still have one unopened. Plenty of duds. Do not buy them anymore. They only work in my Taurus 94, sometimes on the second attempt. The 34-1 has ejection problems with them and only wants to be fed Federal as a regular diet, so I stocked up on them.

I thought my Remington 572 was having issues... turns out when I switched from Remington over to CCI Mini-Mags the problem went away....

In the late 60s and through the 70s I always bought Remington Hi-Speed and standard velocity ammunition because it was very accurate. In the mid 80s I noticed it wasn't shooting good any more, and it just wasn't one specific lot number. None of their Hi-Speed ammunition shot worth a darn, and their standard velocity ammunition is seldom any good either. I might occasionally buy some Remington .22 ammunition if it happens to be cheap, but I don't buy it for hunting or target shooting any more. Essentially it has been crud for the last 25 years.

For day in and day out dependable accuracy I've found that CCI standard velocity is very accurate and the Mini-Mag high velocity is accurate as far as high velocity ammunition is concerned. I've had good results with Winchester ammunition too. The Power-Point hollow points are accurate in many of my guns, and the hollow point is so big you can almost shove your elbow in them. They give great expansion on critters. Federal standard velocity ammuniton can be accurate. I've had trouble with some of their high-speed ammuniton functioning in some of my semi-autos, but it often is quite accurate in the guns it does work in. Almost nothing shoots as good as Federal Match and Federal Ultra-Match ammunition (except maybe Eley) but, unfortunately, they don't make it any more. I have several bolt action rifles that will shoot one-inch or smaller groups at 100 yards with Federal Match or Federal Ultra-Match ammunition.

You should try Federals 550 bulk pack if you can get your hands on any. They are very reliable and function in my autoloaders very well.

I have used the Remington Golden Bullet bulk pack ammo in situations where the only other alternative is more expensive CCI MiniMags. Yesterday I shot 300 rounds through my Glock 17 Adavantage Arms 22 conversion unit with only 1 feeding failuire. Usually I get up to 5 ignition failures per box which will fire when the round is reinserted and turned 180 degrees. I believe it is due to non uniform dispersion of the priming compound. The Remington Golden Bullet is still a good value for the price - what can youi expect for less than 4 cents per round. I save the CCI MiniMags for serious competition since they are more expensive.

It would be great if Remington worked out a deal with Wal-Mart to take back Remington's mediocre ammo. I have a bunch of Thunderbolts I'd like to send back. They feed erratically in my High Standard pistols.......luckily I can mash them into the chambers of my 617 with both thumbs and get them to fire with decent results. Remington 22lr ammo has always been a different breed of cat. The rims are a little thinner than everyone elses........and I've been shooting 22's for over 30 years. How so????? I can sneak 11 rounds into a 10 round High Standard magazine. No other ammo will perform this trick. We all know that 22's can be finicky about what ammo they like. Years of experience have shown me that CCI-Mini-Mags are hard to beat in reliability and accuracy for plinking ammo!

Guess I've been lucky in my experiences with Rem 22Lr especially Yellow Jackets.
