Here in ND, I've been buying a box or two here and there of 30-30. During the handgun ammo/reloading supply shortage, there was always rifle ammo (including .223) on the shelves around here. Scored an occassional brick of 22lr. However, now that handgun calibers are actually on the shelves, I've noticed the rifle ammo is dwindling. I've currently got 200 rounds of 30-30 stocked up and have the components to load at least that many rounds. So I'm good for a few years with hunting ammo. Figuring one box each for the wife and I to sight in and hunt with, majority of lever action practice is done with the Henry 22lr
Before the panic driven shortage, i had also managed to stock up fairly well on 22lr bulk packs. Very modest compared to some members stocks but once again, I got enough for our purposes. Been reloading 38/357 for over a year, so the only caliber I'm short on is 9mm and that is coming back on the shelves at reasonable prices.

I am pretty sure what you bought was PRVI Partizan and my only problem with this stuff is that I can't get enough of it! I bought a couple hundred rounds of their 38 Special after getting so disgusted waiting for "you know who" to get some ammo on their shelves and I have never looked back! Glad to know someone else carries PRVI. I have purchased it from Wideners and AmmunitionToGo.

I was at the Hattiesburg Gander Mtn the other day and that had just about everything. Lots of .223 in Black Hills, Wolf, PMC, Rem and Lake City 20 rd boxes $14.25 ea. My local Walmart has been getting alot more in also. They had several 100 rd 9MM Win. $20.47 a box and CCI 50 rd $9.47. Plenty of .22lr.

right after i posted about no ammo i went to walmart and picked up 300 rounds of federal .40 and will probably go get more tomorrow if they have any more left. they will only let me pick up 6 boxes at a time so 300 rounds is all i can get in one day.

i picked up another 300 rounds and they still have about 20 or more box's left. so i have like 1500 rounds altogether right now. i think that is enough until i start loading my own at the end of the week. the fontana walmart has more if anybody wants some .40cal or 357 or 223 no 9mm that i could find though

I missed .380's at Wally World by mere minutes tonight. I just had to talk to my gun shop guy for a while... They are almost non-existant around here, and are gone fast when they do come in.
I did find a great deal on .40's online at AmmunitionToGo. They beat my shop on Remington GS by $12! That covered shipping and then some! Gouging is so bad right now I'll gladly wait a week to get my order.

No 357, 9 mm, 45 ACP, 380 ACP, 38 Spcl, 44 Mag and VERY little 40 S&W (1 box with MY name on it) at 4 WM this past weekend. GF called me Sunday from WM #5 and said that the clerk told her he had one box of 22 LR for $2.97 (Win Silver Box HP) and did I want her to pick it up for me? H*LL YEAH, I told her. When she got back there was not 50 rounds in the box...It was a 500 round brick that the DA sold her for the price of a single box of 50 rounds. Hey, with the prices I have been paying at WM and other places (including online) isn't it about time I caught a break?

Wal*Mart never seems to have anything when I look here in SE Michigan. Shelves look like a smash and grab took place and no one has cleaned up whats left over.

At a walmart about 20 miles west of chicago they had about 20 boxes of Federal 9mm on Thursday. They always seem to have a couple of .40 cal. Never see any .45 acp and very rarely .38 spl.

Here in SW Michigan the gun shops all seem to be pretty well stocked with ammunition. It's just that prices have gone up about $10 or $15 per box across the board. WM has kept their prices at pre-panic levels so as soon as it comes in it's sold out.
Primers are still scarce. One shop has Magtech Small Rifle primers for $40/1000. That's the first sm rifle I've seen in a long time.

I'm in northeast Oklahoma, north of Tulsa.
My two little "mom and pop" gun shops have a small selection of ammo, but it is way overpriced.
I go to Wally World every day and check on the "staples", 9, 38, 45, 40, 223 and 22.
Occasionally I'll score something like a fifty round box of 223 or some Federal 20 round boxes of .30-30.
Day in and day out, the answer is either no or you should have been here earlier.
It appears a little more 9 is showing up than in the past few months, but 38 is impossible.
I always ask for bulk 22 and can usually pick up a couple of boxes each month.
That's it! Yes, more is appearing now than a few months ago, but it is still terrible.
If you happen to want 12 or 20 gauge, there is all you could want in "game and target" loads.
There has always been a few boxes of 270 or 30-06 on the shelves, but it is about twice what I would consider paying for it, about a dollar a round!.
For the past two years I've been shooting military rifle bench rest with a group of guys once a month. I've since discontinued that because under the current political climate, I just don't want to use up my stocks of military rifle calibers.
I hope things break soon, and I've got to get back into reloading. I've got all the stuff, lots of cases, but primers have been in short supply. No use stocking up on the other stuff without primers!

FWIW:
.223/5.56 stuff in. This place charges NO shipping. Click on your caliber of interest at the top.
If you become a member (free) they send updates to your computer.
The W/M out here have nothing but shotgun field loads.

Here in central indiana I don't see things getting better. But I was in northernern part of state in Merriville. Dick's had several calibers available, and Gander Mnt. had about anything you needed including
cans of powder. But the salesman did snicker when I ask for some sm.pistol primers.

Things are better here, NH. Both LGS have a fair selection. One even had some 380 yesterday (Saturday). Not in the quantity they're used to, but a few boxes of just about everything. Plenty of poodle popping 223 in bulk surplus.
Still no primers but if the ammo is starting again, having enough primers to sell separately can't be too far behind.

Checked out the WalMart in Springfield, Virginia (northern Virginia) and all they had was .40 so I bought 6 boxes but nothing else available. I asked about .38 and the clerk said they had seen none in two months.
Four months ago I placed a order with Cabelas for bulk .38 and it was listed to ship in 0-1 week. Got the same story 4 months runniing that its going to be 0-1 week and last week received an email saying its now 2 months wait. I canceled the order. I realize the problem but Cabelas was listing the bulk ammo as being available "0-1 week" numerous times only to change. When someone like them repeatedly informs me my order is 0-1 week away from shipping only to continually change the ship time at the last minute tells me they are not communicating properly with their suppliers and leaves me feeling jerked around.

Got Guns, No Ammo
Man! What is going on with the ammo shortage? I went to three stores yesterday and they were all out of 9mm, .38sp, .38sp+P, and .357. Its been this way since April in my area (Northern VA).

I'm seeing more ammo available now than there has been since the election, but prices are up a good 25% - 40% across the board. Somebody is making big $ on this so-called "shortage" because commodity prices and shipping costs have dropped and remained moderate compared to what they were in, say, the summer of '08. By all rights prices should be lower than they were at that time, but they are not.

Here in Utah, I have seen the ammo shortage coming to a halt. Last I checked (two weeks ago) my sporting goods store had everything but .45 long colt. 9mm ammo was going for $9.00 a box. I don't know how long this will last but I bought up all that I will need this year.

Houston has really eased uo - 45acp $19 range 9I do not shoot 45 but buy for my son) - 9mm $12 - 38 $16 range - higher than before but can live with that - I do not need anymore but what the heck I buy anyway so I have enough to last what little time I have left

My local shop now rations ammo for the first time in 57 years of business. When available the limit is 2 boxes per day.

the local stores seem to be well stocked in the last two weeks, but they sure aren,t selling anything cheap! i heard rumors that the gov't was restocking their arsenal, then i heard the gov't was controlling the components to make primers as a type of gun control? all i know is after 10 years of saying i was gonna get my pistol permit, now that i finally got one its pi**ing me off at the price of ammo!

Did another check, Wally World has plenty of 45 Colt, 2 boxes of .25 (that have been there all through the shortage, wonder why ), and... here's the kicker... 3 boxes of Federal Hi-Shock in .40!!!
I left those for someone else, I have all of the HP's I need for now, and I can get better for about the same price.

Available but pricy
Ammo is available at most stores and most calibers if you ignore the ridiculous prices like $15 for 9mm FMJ and $49 dollars for a 50 round box of .357 Magnum plane jane JHP. I used to go to gun shows here because I knew some dealers, liked the social environment, and even worked part time for one and as a bonus you always saved a few dollars or more on ammo but now these guys have ammo that is MORE EXPENSIVE than going to a retail store, up until now this has never been the case in my whole life. Plus there are these guys with ammo where you can see the Wal mart stickers under their price stickers with a 50-100 percent mark up. The only place ammo is spotty is Wal Mart because they are beating all the other stores prices by quite a bit so it is hit and miss getting ammo there even with the 6 box restriction.

Just picked up 2 WWB's of .45 at Wal Mart for 30 a piece. This is the first reasonably priced ammo I've seen in this area for quite a while. The local gun shop charges 23/box of 50 of independance and blazer.

It still seems spotty in my neck of the woods here in Western Washington. Any hollowpoint ammo is pretty scarce but I can usually find a 20 round box of top shelf PD hollowpoint ammo in .357 or .38 special but not much for general range shooting. A couple of the sites I haunt on the web seem to have a little more but still not an overabundance.

Stopped by Wally World this morning. They had 1 box each of .45acp & .44Mag, a couple of cases of 9mm target and not much else on the pistol shelf. A little bit of the name brand rimfire in 100 packs, but none of the bulk-pack Federals I like to plink with. I picked up 3 boxes of Federal 40grn target ammo in the 325 pack @15.47. Slim pickings; but its the first .22 or centerfire pistol ammo I have seen at Walmart since March. The check-out clerk was quite snippy when asking "rifle or pistol" for each of the identical boxes.

I noticed yesterday that one small shop in my town has PMC 1000 round cases of 223 for $385, which seems pretty reasonable. There are also boxes of most common handgun calibers available, 9mm, 38 Spec., 357, 40, 45, etc., but it's a good 50% more expensive than it was a year ago. Primers remain scarce although one shop has large pistol magnums, and another has large rifle bench-rest primers. Bricks of .22 are scarce still, and have almost doubled in price when you do see them.

Picked up 900 rounds this morning and 300 rounds last weekend of 45 acp at Wally World. Passed on 40 's and 9 mm's. Not all that hard to find around here. The 45 acp has been tough for me but things apear to be getting a little better. Now I can plan a day at the range .

Stopped by Miejers last night and much to my surprise they had WWB in 25 ACP, 9x19, 38 Special, 40S&W 44 Mag and 45 ACP. Happened to stop by tonight and was even more surprised to find most of it still there. On the way home I stopped by a local gun shop and they had everything except what I was looking for, but it's not unusual not t be able to find 38 S&W in stock. Around here the panic seems to be over. Heck, I even listed 100 rds of WWB 380 for $45 on a local trading board and have had zero response. Earlier this year people were paying $40 a box at the shows.

I was able to get one box of .38 special today;Have not seen it for an entire year at WallyWorld.I have been able to get 9mm and.40 on a fairly regular basis now.It appears to be in the higher priced stores but most people I know have been waiting for a better value to come around.I'd say it is slowly making a turn back to availabilty but we are not there yet.

Here in the Detroit area Wally World stores the 9mm and 40SW seems pretty easy to find. Haven't seem any .38 in ages, once in a while they get some UMC .357 hollowpoints and if you get silly enough to ask for .44 Magnum, they'll ask you what planet you're from.

Still no 380 to be had anywhere around here, I've not seen any in months. I don't own nor shoot 380, never had any use for the round, but it has become more popular with the intro of small plastic pistols chambered for it.

Availability of ammo increasing in central Ohio. One local GS has tons of 9mm Blazer for $9.99/box. The catch.........you can "only" buy 1,000 rounds per trip to the store.

I have had an order with Sportsman's Guide since April. It has .38's, .357, .45, .380, and others. My backorders just keep getting extended. My local gun shops have gotten in ammo, why not Sportsman's Guide?
