Tightening Up Old Leather
I have a few older leather holsters that have started getting soft, and don't quite hold my guns the way they used to. Does anyone know if it's possible to tighten up or for lack of a better word, shrink a holster? I thought I heard once you could dunk it in hot water and that when it dried it would stiffen up, but I've never tried it.

Hi:
I have done this method and have had different results (2).
1. The method is successful.
2. The holster drys out as stiff as a wooden board and cracks when attempts to straighten it out.
Perhaps a Forum Member can offfer a better nethod.

Leather is an organic substance and has a limited lifespan. Once the holster gets to the point where it won't do what it's supposed to do, it's time to throw it out and get a new one, no different from shoes or anything else.
The last thing you need is your gun falling out at a bad time (there is no good time for it to fall out).
