Default Crimson Trace rubbers on J frame: Sticky in pocket?

Thinking about a set of Crimson Trace LG-405 Rubber grips for my J-frame. Looks like the rubber might hang up in a pocket. What is the real world experience?

They're fine...the stickier areas are high on the back strap & front finger wrap area (the frame is actually exposed on the butt end & low back strap), the rest of the grip is the hard polymer). Love 'em. I did an E-bay search notification of everything that went up for less than $200 & scored an as new set of CT-405's for $175 shipped.

I have Crimson Trace grips on my 442. I carry it in a pocket holster and have never had any trouble with it hanging up on the grips.

i'd like to hear from you guys regarding holster option for the J frame and the crimson trace grip.

my wife's house gun is a Jframe and she keeps it in a fobus paddle holster just so the trigger isnt grabbed when she picks it up if she were to do so in the middle of the night.....plus the added safety with kids and having the trigger guard covered. (my daughter is a shooter also) but my wife wants something that still covers the trigger guard.

what holsters will fit the gun with the crimson trace installed and still cover the trigger guard and provide some measure of retension through either a thumb snap or the molded trigger guard "snap in place" like the fobus?

Have Ray @ LoboGunleather make it any way you want it. The cylinder is well forward of the laser, so most should work I would think.

This picture shows my Model 66 (which actually has CT-306's on it now) & it clears just fine.

This picture shows the CT-405's & you can see it also clears just fine.

About $45 to my door for the J-Frame (dual carry cross or strong)...I think the K-frame was $63 to my door.

The CT Sight was an afterthought after I got my 642, so its the CT grips. I never noticed much differance in size except the littlr ridge at the top of the grip. Don't know about it being "sticky", mine isn't.

I carry in my pants pocket w/out a holster. No problems, can't tell the differance by adding the CT grips.

I tried pocket holstes, they seem too bulky for me.

I tried a couple of my friends 442/642 guns with the rubber CT grips. While they may make shooting the gun more comfortable, they did not feel good in my pocket. Too big and grabby for a fast draw.
I put the hard polymer LG-105 grips on my 442 and I love them as I pocket carry with a Mika holster 100% of the time with this gun.
I practice with some down loaded rounds and then finish my range session with a couple of cylinders of my more potent carry ammo.

Default LG-105 grips are not sticky

I have two J frames with the LG-105 grips. These grips are not bulky and I do not believe that they would have any problem with a holster of any kind.

The 105 grips are less "sticky" than Pachmayr or Houge grips. I use a nylon ( Shooting Systems) pocket holster for each.

The only problem with these grips is that one must keep the trigger finger on the trigger guard before shooting. You cannot keep the index finger on the revolver frame as it will block the laser beam. This is against everything that I have ever practiced or believed in weapons safety. The finger does not need to touch the trigger, but it must rest on the trigger guard.

This is my number one complaint about CT grips.

Not sure why you want the Laser pointed at something (in additon to the gun) unless you're going to fire your weapon. I like the ability to block the laser and prevent it being a target or position give away until I am actually aiming at the target. So, the finger postion blocking the laser works quite well for me. Just my take on it...

Unless you are a south-paw, then this isn't an issue! (I'm a lefty). Love mine on my 649.

I use the CT 105's on my 649-3, not bulky like the 405's(which I once had, then sold) and they're quite hard so they don't stick or grab anything.A couple of Yonkers cops turnd me on to the 105's, they use them on their off duties. I wouldn't carry a J without them, and will get another set for a 642. ymmv

I EDC my S&W model 60-1 .38 with the Crimson Trace Laser in a Crossbreed SuperTuk holster everyday and love it. The SuperTuk is very comfortable and in the right position with the proper clothing undetectable.

I would highly recommend this set up.

Not a problem with me and I carry my 637-2 in my pocket more often than in a belt holster. The holster is home made. Yiogo

I carry a 642 LadySmith In a Aholster pocket holster. I put the bigger CTG's on it. It does not stick, jam up or get crossways in my pocket. This is my go everywhere gun. It controls better and without an exposed hammer I don't get ripped coat liners. In short, it works.
