Shot of the century?
Not sure where to post this, but what an amazing story about shot placement in the course of self defense.

That's nothing, The Lone Ranger and Roy Rogers did that every week when I was a kid! :-)
I'm glad the officer survived, to bad the thug's gun didn't blow up in his face.
Have a blessed day,
Leon

I recall that this sort of thing also happened several times during the Civil War,with a musket ball meeting up with another, in the second shooter's barrel.

It's awesome that it happened during self defense - most of the examples I have seen have been through heavy firefights (i.e. war)

From the hip, no less. But don't forget "Cannon" and Barnaby Jones, they could hit a I at at 100yards with their 1 inch snubbies.

I did the same thing today, and like the cop I wasn't really trying.

That sort of thing happens due to 'threat tunnel vision'.
When using targets with a weapon displayed,
I see lots of shots on or near the weapon, as opposed to center-mass hits.

They say this is a "one in a billion" shot. I'd say it's more like one in a trillion or more. Everything has to be perfect for this to happen. I don't recall ever hearing of this before.
