help with loads for M&P 40c
I have a M&P compact in 40S&W and haven't found a load I like. I'm looking for a good carry load for it. If any has ideas Let me know.

You could start out by telling us what you've tried and why you don't like it. Any of the popular premium defense loads should shoot OK in the M&P. From there it is mostly picking one that shoots to the sights and personal preference. Not to mention availability.

If I still carried a .40 I would load it with either 155gr or 165gr HST, or 155gr Ranger T, these are my favorite self defense bullet designs, as others have said it would help to know what you tried and why you didn't like it.

I carry Remington UMC JHP's 180gr in my daily carry SW40VE. I know a lot of people talk bad about the UMC line, but I have over 200 rounds through it without any primer problems or feeding problems. I shot some lighter bullets, but the higher muzzle velocity and greater recoil affected my ability to return to the target, maybe just a few milliseconds but I want to be able to hold as much as possible. The Remington's OAL holds to better tolerances than some I have measured which was a point in their favor as to their manufacturing process.
As a secondary choice, I also liked the Winchester PDX1 bondeds as well. They fired reliably and fed well too, I have them in some of my HD semi-autos as well.

The ammunition that functions with absolute reliability in your pistol and shoots consistently to point of aim. These are the gold standards for defensive ammunition.
Different bullet designs and different cartridge overall lengths will function differently in different weapons. Different bullet weights at different velocities will usually impact at different points in relation to the point of aim.
The ultimate super-duper high-performance ammunition in the world will do you no good if it doesn't function reliably and hit where you aim it.
Best regards.

Listen to Lobo He knows of what he speaks.
Confidence in the weapon also applies to the ammo.

Thanks for the help everyone. Some of you brought up my problems. I didn't give detail and I guess I should have. Most of what I've used is 180 Grain stuff in good hollow points but after doing some reading and talking to some people who know more than I do I've been concerned about them opening up as well as some 155 or 165 grainers out of the short barrel. All the hollow points I've shot have fed fine. Some have shot better of course. So if any one has a load they like the most so I could give it a try. Again thank you everyone.

Mine hasn't found anything it won't feed. I carry Winchester PDX 180gr in it.
