*** Best front pocket holster for S&W J Frame guns

I have by no means tried them all but my research led to choosing a Mika.

I've been using pocket holsters now for two and a half years. I've tried several from $55.00 down. Believe it or not, the cheapest one works the best for me. The Uncle Mike's nylon for about $12.00. It is comforable, conceals well, doesn't print, and has never come out of my pocket with my 642 when practicing. It is the only pocket holster I've tried that stay's put. TC

I use either a leather Galco or an Uncle Mikes, depending on how big my pocket is.

I gave about $10 for my Uncle Mike's at a Sportsman's Warehouse and have never felt the need for another.

Depends a little on the pocket. In the summer, my Uncle Mike's fits just fine in most cargo shorts (Desanti Nemisis works OK depending on the pocket). I find that the cheaper holsters print more when wearing jeans - I use a stiffer leather holster (RKBA holsters) in that case.

For the past couple of years, my Model 60 has been in a Galco leather pocket holster in my right front pocket, except when I need or want to use a shoulder holster (in that case, a Bianchi 9R upside-down shoulder holster). It fits most jeans very well, has never come out of the pocket (in fact, getting it out at the end of the day can be a little tough), and, most importantly, does not print, and the gun has never been spotted. Good holster, high quality, reasonable price. I highly recommend it.

DeSantis Nemesis is what I've been using for years. Good gear, especially for the money.

Another vote for the DeSantis Nemesis, mine from Cabala's.

I also have High Noon Grabber ( it rotates forward in my pocket ) most annoying.

I can't bring myself to purchase "Uncle Ho's" the Viet Nam made Uncle Mike's.

I have a Nemesis and a Mika. The Nemesis is very good, the Mika is better. The Mika holster stays put and gives up the gun freely. They can take a while to get as Robert stays pretty busy.

I have a Nemesis and it works fine. However, my personal favorite is the Simply Rugged "Pocket Protector" holster. It has the rough part of the leather on the outside so it stays in your pocket as you take the gun out. It also has a little pocket that allows you to put a couple of extra rounds in it, or like I do, insert a speed strip and carry it all together.

I'm SO glad that someone else carries the Uncle Mikes! I assume that we're talking about the IWB Model 36 version? I think that the belt clip further breaks up the outline......

My Uncle Mikes says Made in USA, but I have had it for a while.

Same here....

I have to take my pants off to get the Nemesis out of the pocket. There is about zero chance of it coming out when drawing the gun.

For j frames I too would recommend the Mika. I have never had any problem with it coming out with the gun.

After reading good thing about the Nemisis for years I picked one up for my LCP. I've not been as happy with it. Maybe it's the pockets, but it does tend to want to come out with the gun if I'm not careful. I'm still trying to decide which route to go with it. I really only carry that gun in lightweight shorts that don't do well concealing something bigger. But those shorts all seem to have pockets that don't work well with the nemisis. I may order a Mika for it as well.

pocket holster

I got tired of my grip screw rusting, so I now use the DeSantis Superfly. I reverse the flap which is velcro attached to use it as a sweat shield.

I used to use that one until I went to pocket carry. Now it''s the number 3 pocket holster. TC

I've thought about this myself. But if we didn't use, watch, listen to, carry a cell phone, or wear anything not made in this country, well I believe you get my point. I did do my duty over there too. Just my thoughts. TC
