S.L. Variant Speedloaders?
My son (collins642) has turned me on to these. They're imported from Germany by Bobby Mac Just Snubs. They look pretty good at $30.00. Michael Bethencourt with Snubtraining.com gives them his highest recommendation. I was wondering if anyone is using these and would let me know how they like them. TC

I just ordered some for my 686+. They are the only ones to fit the 686+ other than the HKS (which I dont care for) so hopefully they are worth it.

Yes I am interested too. Are they really worth 2.5 times as much as a Comp 1? If so then I'd try them for the J frame.

Actually three times more than I have to pay for them at cheaper Than Dirt. I just need to hear from someone using them. My Comp 1's work great and I can get three for the price of one Variant. But then again I always am looking for the best and most efficient way to reload. TC

from the website, it looks like the N frame version holds rounds from 41 mag thru 45 AR, which would be perfect for me (HKS is the only source of 41 "speedloaders" I can find, and I am hard pressed to call the HKS device a speedloader, more like a bullet holder)
I would pay 30 bucks per if they did what it seems like they do....I guess if no one is using them here then I might need to call the guy and ask him.
Anyone out there using them on N frames????

The SL variants are really well made, and very fast. I have a few that I have used for better than ten years now, in both J and K frame models.

I got my speedloaders for my 686+ in the mail today. Man, they are nice! When first inspecting them I could see they are very well made. Much higher quality than the safariland comp IIs I have been using. I tryed them out a few times with some snap caps and I must say they are outstanding. They are spring loaded so they push the rounds into the cylinder instead of the rounds just dropping in. It took me less than 3 tries before I got the hang of it and was getting some pretty fast reloads compared to the safarilands. I will take them to the range tomorrow and if they survive being beaten up a little bit I'll order some more.
Now you have to remember, I got these because they are the only push type speedloaders for a 7 shot revolver. For my other guns I can't see buying the S.L. Varients when I can get Comp IIs for under ten bucks. But who knows, maybe these will change my mind.

Thanks for the info. I can see where they'd be advantageous for a 7 shooter but will stick with my Comp 1s for the J frame. I do use Comp IIIs with my 3" M66 in IDPA and ICORE so can appreciate the spring loaded feature.

Nice thing about the SL is that you can load the cells one at a time, click, click, click. No need to juggle six rounds as you twist the knob or to have a loading plate. Just push them in.
The SL requires a harder push to load the gun than Safariland, at least the one sample I had did. So hang on to the cylinder.

Took them to the range yesterday. They survived everything I threw at them, but I did have one malfunction early in the testing. On one speed reload, 4 out of the 7 rounds did NOT release. I don't know how this happened and I could not duplicate the malfunction. I believe it may have been because I had the speedloader tilted one way or another. Like I said, I could not duplicate the malfunction and never had a hiccup with them again. Would I recommend them? You bet I would!

Both true. I didn't find the push to be overly hard or anything. Just slightly more force needed and I only noticed while loading casually.

Guys,
These are worth every penny. Not even comparable to HKS and Safariland products. I was lucky to get two of them on eBay from someone who had sold his 686 Plus. I got them at $56 a piece and frankly, I would have paid $70 for them since they don't make these anymore. They are sturdy & reliable. No wiggling and no dropped cartridges, once you insert them in the loader. Extremely fast. I ended up getting two for my 629 as well so when I'm out in the woods and SHTF, I can rely on loading my revolver within 2 seconds and be ready to shoot some more. I always carry two of them in a fanny pack right next to my holstered gun. If you get lucky and find them; don't hesitate to jump on them. I don't know how to post a picture here; otherwise, I would have loaded a picture of my 686 Plus with the two loader sitting next to it!
