Crossdraw practice
I am currently carrying my J-frame model 642 front crossdraw in a bellyband. I have spent a great deal of time looking at the pros and cons and found this to be the best option for me. Does anyone know of any organizations that allow crossdraw? I realize I would need a holster on the belt for the range. I do a lot of practice at home with an unloaded gun.

You might find a range that allows cross draw provided no one else is on the line. Otherwise, I doubt you will find one. Perhaps someone's backyard range?
Be safe.

Ask to line up on the far left (assuming you're right handed) and assure them the only one that you can "sweep" is you.

Thanks for the advice. All I have to go on right now is what I read. Some live fire practice, starting supervised, would be great.

I understand your plight. Supervised ranges will not allow it. I've been fortunate in NM where public berms (unsupervised) you can practice the way you want. In AZ, the desert is my friend. The only choice you have is to locate an isolated area.
I'm a firm believer in CD for my particular situation...Good luck...

Makes a lot of difference where you are; I looked at your profile and you don't say.
Best bet around here is join an outdoor range that allows members to have their own key. Go on an off day, have a whole bay to yourself.
No sanctioned shooting organization that I know of allows any holsters that point to the rear or cause sweeping of the shooter's body. Certain crossdraw holsters are legal in SASS.

Thanks everyone for the information. I live in the small and hard to spell state of connecticut. There is private land near me with space to practice but I would need the owners permision. I have a book on concealed carry by Masaad Ayoob that describes how to draw from a front crossdraw holster without sweeping and I practice with an un loaded gun. I will look into the gunclub option.
