This happened all the time in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

I always wore my gun under the black drape. My purse was under there too.

The picture of the police officer shows her in the back of an ambulance with an oxygen mask on, was she wounded in the gunfight?

I wondered if she was wounded, too, because of the picture. The article states:

I'm sure that's what'd happen to me under the same circumstances!! She is one gutsy gal and deserves some high profile recognition for her courage.

Don't want to take anything away from her, she did GREAT, but... I'll put my money on her aiming CM and just happened to hit the gun out of his hand.... I really doubt she aimed for the gun hand on purpose. She also shot the door lock causing the guy to have to bail out the window to escape. Again, I'm going to guess that was not a puposely aimed shot...

her eyes were drawn to the gun he held and thats where her shots went. It takes courage to stand in a firefight. Cudos to her, she hit the target and eliminated the threat and that's what defensives shooting boils down, eliminating the threat!

Absolutely, I agree 100%. I just suspect that shooting the gun out of his hand and disabling the door lock were not intentional acts. She did very good putting him out of the fight and standing up while he was shooting.
