The Snubby Revolver by Ed Lovette is one of my favorites.

Buy a copy of a book named, "No Second Place Winner" by Bill Jordan. He was the nicest guy you could ever meet but he had been in several gunfights and is the designer of the Jordan grips, the Jordan holster and for whom the Jordan Trooper was named after.

The book is available at Amazon.com and can be had from $5 to $25.

Ed Lovette's book is great, and I love "No Second Place Winner". Another good one I've found, although it's pretty specialized to J frames is "the Airweight Revolver" by Stephen Camp. It's available on his website Hi Powers and Handguns

I like the old Gun Digest "Book of Combat Handgunnery". I've got all 6 editions that have come down through the years. Although there's much more material specifically related to pistols than revolvers, the combat aspect is the same no matter what you shoot.

I think one of the all-time best combat handgun books is Frank Spaulding's "Handgun Combatives".

Lastly, if you're carrying a gun or plan to use one for home defense, you owe it to yourself to read "In the Gravest Extreme" by Massad Ayoob. This one deals specifically on the ramifications of using a gun. I think this one is definitely a "must read".

Elmer Keith's "Sixguns" is still pretty good, especially if you want to take up slip shooting...

Ed McGivern's "Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting" also has a lot of pertinent information. His speed and accuracy WHILE USING THE SIGHTS with the one handed shooting stance are absolutely astounding. Anybody using his methods and attaining only a fraction of his skill will still be a very formidable gunfighter. His writing style makes for a somewhat difficult read but it is full of valuable information. This book has recently been re-printed and I frequently see it on the shelves of the chain stores.

The late Jim Cirillo's book "Guns' Bullets and Gunfights" is excellent. (I think I got that title right). Jim was an NYPD officer back in the '60s and '70s when they had a stakeout squad that would lay in wait for robbers of stores in the area. He used a 4" M10 most of the time. Fascinating reading.

I like Bill Jordan's No Second Place and Ed McGiverns Fast and Fancy. I am going to have to get Jim Cirillo's book.

I believe Ed McGivern could draw and shoot twice in the time it takes to move your trigger finger from outside the guard to pulling the trigger,

"Protect Yourself With Your Snub Nose Revolver" Grant Cunningham. While it deals with snubbies, the basics apply to any/all revolvers.

Agreed on Cunningham, to include "Defensive Revolver Fundamentals".

Gentlemen, we can keep this thread open because it has good information, but note the thread is 11 years old and the OP was banned over 6 years ago.

Ed McGivern's book has been claimed by some to be dated, however, I received a copy recently and have to say that what I've read so far, it is still relevant. Its a great book to read for understanding revolver skills.
