Another ingenious J frame holster from Garrity Gunleather :)
I have had one of these that fit my 442 for the past 10 years. I just got Mark to make me one that fits my 342.
Awesome holster for either coat pocket carry of pants pocket carry! It is called the pocket stabilizer.

Is the front of the barrel exposed? Meaning, could the gun in theory be aimed and fired with the holster still on?
Also, do you get nervous with an exposed trigger like that? It seems like a potential safety issue to me.

It was designed as a coat pocket carry, so you can just shoot through the pocket... not really designed for aiming. You can use the top of the holster as a reference when aiming.
As for the exposed trigger.... I have carried Glocks for years, and with a 3.5 lb trigger as opposed to an 8 lb trigger, I have no problem with it.
I really should have had Mark relieve the leather on the barrel, so you would be able to reload.

Don't quote me on this as I'm not exactly sure how the law reads, but you may want to look into the legality of that holster. I know some pocket/wallet holster designs, specifically those with which the weapon can be fired while holstered, are regulated by the ATF and classified as AOW (Any Other Weapon) devices requiring a tax stamp (to use/carry, not to own).

"Wallet" holsters that are now AOW, are the type that make the gun look like a wallet, and are usually completely covered (except for the trigger). If you can still tell it is a gun, the holster is OK. Ruger sells one for the LCP that is similar to the pocket holster, but you can still tell that it is a gun, and it is legal.
Also LEO are exempt from those silly laws..........
The Bureau Of Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms (ATF) has decided that the Wallet Holsters which allow the gun to be fired while it is still in the holster, are now considered "Any Other Weapon" (AOW) The description of AOW is a device that is designed to not look like a firearm and yet fires a bullet. So the concept is that because it looks like a wallet and mugger may percieve it as a wallet as you are shooting him, the ATF thinks they should demand a tax on it.

I thought this was the demise of the model from Pachmayr that held five cartridges and was held to the gun by replacing one side of the stock??? I have seen them but they seem to be rare and very unobtanium.

allglock,
I didn't see a pocket stabilizer on the Garrity website, but
it looks like a great idea. Was it real expensive? TACC1

Is this correct? Is LEO exempt from the 1934 NFA or other ATF regulations?
