Lightweight, But Big Bore!
Hey guys!
I am looking into getting a new revolver and I could use some of you experts out there. I am wanting a lightweight, larger caliber revolver, preferably a .44 Mag or bigger. Recoil is not an issue, as my 360PD has gotten me quite use to pain . I like the 629PC that's out now for around $800-$850 that has a barrel length of 2 5/8" and I think the weight is right around 39 ounces. Is there a such thing as a revolver pretty much that size in .44 Mag that weighs any less? I am also considering the S&W model 327PC with the 2" barrel, but I would really like the .44 Magnum. I'm going to carry this around my house quite a bit and would probably carry it away from home also if it's not too uncomfortable, but my 10mm usually ends up being my "go to" carry gun so not a whole lot. To make a long story short, I really like the 629PC, but thought I would see if you guys knew of any other ones like it, or maybe even a tad lighter. Thanks a bunch guys & gals!

Check out the Night Guard line, might be a tad lighter, 2.5" N frames and big bores like you want. I have a 327 NG 8 Round and like very much. Very concealable.

Have you looked at the S&W 329PD ? Nice light weight .44 magnum that is a real bear to shoot .44 magnums out of, but Buffalo Bore Heavy .44 Special loads are a good to use item.

Yep, 329 PD is what you want, especially if you're used to pain. The secret is to buy the 500 Mag Tamer grips for it. They have the proper backstrap padding and can only be had from S&W, # 294670000 $36.76 (if they haven't gone up). They make all the difference in the world!

Love big bore snubs!
I have the 329NG for hiking/backpacking, and it has quickly become one of my favorite guns. It has night sights and the excellent Pachmayr Compaq grips that cover the backstrap with lots of rubber, so recoil isn't actually all that bad. (Newer models do not have the Pachmayr grips....big mistake!) Product: Model 329 Night Guard
The 329PD Alaska Backpacker. It has an absolutely stupid exposed bare metal backstrap, so it badly needs some Pachmayrs. Product: Model 329PD Alaska Backpacker
The other 329PD's only come in 4 or 6" barrels, and again have absolutely useless grips. (The numbnuts at S&W need to get their act together, and realize that bare metal backstraps and stupid stuff like wood grips don't have any place on a magnum revolver.) http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...layErrorView_Y

I would not rule out the 325 Night Guard in 45acp, or the 310 Night Guard in 10mm.
If you do not carry in bear country, they should be all the horse power you need for 2 legged varmints.
I have a 310 and love it.

What about a couple 44 specials, models 296 and 396? They are 5 shot and very light, 2 and 3 inch respectivley. I have a 396 and love it.

That's two great suggestions. I like the 296 and installed a SS 696 cylinder for extra strength and slightly more recoil resistance.

296 was going to be my suggestion for a lightweight 44.
