CC Permit in VA
Hello all,
I applied for my concealed permit here in VA three weeks ago. I have been checking the mail for my permit but have yet to see it. Yesterday my buddy told me that they mail the permit to the courthouse and you have to go pick it up. He does live in a different county than I do, so I was wondering if this is something others have experienced in VA or not? I thought the lady at the courthouse told me it would be mailed to me, but I might have mis-understood her. Thanks in advance.

I got a message (many years ago now) in the mail to arrive at the courthouse with ID and they gave me my permit. They mail you your renewals, but not the original.

Depends on the county. In Prince William they mail it (original and renewals), in others they may make you pick it up. Call the Clerk of Courts office if you have a question.

In Botetourt, you have to go to the clerk of courts office and pick it up, and a renewal requires a new photo and a trip to pick up the new permit on renal. Apparently the deal is at the digression of the local circuit court judge, and they are different from county to county.

I got mine in the mail. Call the court clerk for your county (or whoever issues it in your county) and ask them if they mail it or if you have to come pick it up.
Not sure what each county's CHP looks like, but mine was on pretty thin card stock. Places like OfficeMax can laminate it for you, so it can be a bit more durable.

PERMIT
Frederick County, The send you a post card, so everyone can see you have a permit. Then you have to go pick it up. No photo involved.

Judges often digress, but it is their discretion that counts!

Henrico County sent me a notice in the mail that my permit was approved, but I had to go back to the court clerk to receive it. The process was 20 days.

Don't know if this will help you much but I live in Hampton Roads and applied for my permit at the beginning of the month. I decided to give the courthouse a call to check on the status and surprisingly it was ready for pick up. The permit showed that it was approved last week. When I called they asked if it has been 45 days to which I answered no but was just checking just in case. BTW, I decided to check because a friend told me he experienced the same thing.

I have a Virginia out of state permit that came in the mail in about 3 weeks (which reminds me, it's about time to re-up on that) and I have a resident Wyoming permit that took about 4 months and had to be picked up at the Sheriff's office. Go figure!
