Veteran policeman loses permit over unsealed juvenile record
Apparently, a new law in Massachusetts, allows the concealed permit board to unseal juvenile records to look for anything in a person's past.
In this case, they yank the license of an 16 year veteran police lieutenant who made a mistake in his youth and managed to turn his life around and do well.

WOW! Did you read any of the comments? There's a LOT of dislike for those PD's.

Interesting situation and without knowing the nature of the offense it's hard to comment, specifically.
That said, pursuant to LEOSA, it seems he could carry off-duty. This will be interesting.
Hmmmmmm...
Be safe.
PS:
State law re: reporting past behavior will likely also come into play.

So he's OK to carry a firearm on duty but not off duty?

dont forget how we've helped ourselves by not turning each of our respective states into perpetual running gun battles like they all said we would.

Massachusetts? Somehow it figures. Maybe they don't have crime there. Nontheless I won't be visiting that state soon.

THere are so many 'stealth' ways to go after guns, aren't there. That's exactly what our current admin told Sarah Brady- to paraphrase 'we are going after them, we just have to do it under the radar right now. After I'm re-elected' remember what he told Russia? He'll have 'more flexibility'- I do believe that means he won't have to honor the Constitution- as much as he does now.
This comment may belong in the "general' forum, don't know- but it is relevant to the OP in my opinion. If not, sorry. Also, this reminds one of Chicago- ordered to loosen up gun retsrictions, and IL basically said- NO.

If we pass laws so nobody has a gun well. That would be good if: !!!! People obeyed all of the laws. Then the law enforcement wouldn't need to have guns in fact you wouldn't even need law enforcement because everybody obeyed the laws. Its so easy all you need is a perfect world!!
Following that logic then Obama wouldn't need the secret service. BTW take that away now and see how he feels about gun control or How Sarah Brady feels about it. OK I'll shut up now!! Just one more thing. How can people be that Dumb!!!!!!!!!!

Since MA is Will issue, I see no real difference here. The objective of the liberal law makers in this state, who claim to stand up for your civil rights, want to take the most basic civil right away. The right to defend yourself and your family. It truly makes no sense. But you can not have a socialist state like Teddy wanted if people own guns.
What really makes no sense in this case, is for a LEO. He can carry on the job, but not off.

No one is perfect, we are human and make mistakes, he fixed it and became a LEO to serve and protect, to make himself and others better around him by his actions on duty and of duty. This is sad. Come on America.....
