OWB for my 442
Looking for an OWB for when I do not want to pocket/IWB.
Any suggestions for something that will conceal well but does not need to be sexy/pretty
Thanks in advance

Check out Lobo Gunleather. Ray is a Forum member here and he makes really nice holsters at very reasonable prices.

For comfortable and discreet concealed carry there is nothing (in my unbiased opinion) that will compare to the Enhanced Pancake model.

I use a Galco concealable Belt Holster (make sure you have a sturdy belt - doesn't need to be a utility belt, but should be more than a thin dress belt.) When I wear that I can carry a 640 and I barley notice the weight. With a 642 it's like nothing is there.

A friend of mine got this from Lobo for his Detective Special...thin yet stiff....IMO, for the money, you can't beat it...

Check out the Blackhawk Speed Classic made only for J frames. Similar to the Lobo Sipowicz posted and only about $20 online. Got mine from Optics Planet along with a couple Bianchi speed strips which allowed free shipping.

thanks
that piece of elastic on the blackhawk holster seems like a potential place for the holster to fail. I have read quite a bit of good stuff on them though.

Well, I am very happy with a GSS model from Ken Null. His website can be found through Google or the like. The holster is thin horsehide and tucks the gun in to your waist very well. btw, GSS means "Gibraltar Speed Scabbard!"

I whole-heartedly recommend Ray and Lobo Gun Leather.
If you want something really simple to hold you over, until Ray can hook you up, I can recommend the Don Hume JIT. It's a simple little OWB that conceals very well. The Enhanced Pancake that Ray makes would be a strongly improved version of the JIT.

That's just nice. Looks like it would keep either my 36 or 642 nice and warm.
I might be being slow tonight but where on Lobo's website is that hiding?

Might want to check out this guy's stuff; can't vouch because I've never used it, but I'm interested. Specializes in snubby carry...

You are correct, the Basket Weave holster is a Lobo Model 1 Pancake with optional Basket Weave.
I have 8 of Ray's Pancake holsters. The holster for my 442 Pro Moonclip is a Model 1 with Optional Inner Hammer Shield, as well as Optional Detail Boned.
GREAT Holster for concealed carry.
I have mostly Enhanced Pancakes with Optional Inner Hammer Shields. They come Standard Detail Boned. I would recommend the Enhanced Pancake. I also recommend the Optional Inner Hammer Shield for another $5. This small tab of leather helps keep your shirt tail out of the holster when reholstering.
If you look at Rays picture on his post above you will notice the Enhanced Pancake pictured has Belt Tunnels, instead of Belt Slots. All the other Lobo holsters pictured are Model 1's with Belt Slots. The Belt Tunnels on the Enhanced Pancake look a little better, and are supposed to be a little lower profile. The Tunnels are a little more trouble to thread your belt through. Not a big deal unless you take your holster on and off a lot. You cannot go wrong with either Model.
Ray also makes a leather "Single" Speed Strip Carrier for the belt. Way better than pocket carry.
Get a HD leather belt also. A HD belt holds the holster tight to the body. This gets more important with heavier steel guns.
I normally carry at 4 O'Clock. I carry my reload infront of the holster on the belt. My belt was made by a local saddle maker. I recycled the Brass Buckle from my worn out Rafter S Black Shark Gun Belt. Ray makes a dandy belt also.

Another JIT user here. Under $30 bux shipped from GunnersAlley. Hume generally has good designs at reasonable prices.
The Lobo looks nice. May have to look at one soon as the leather fund is replenished .
Anything Ken Null makes is top drawer.
One I'd avoid is the Bianchi 55L. It flops around badly unless you like a REALLY tight belt. I use it as a cover for nightstand/truck duty though. Well made, bad design.
Regards,
Pat
