One of the best trigger pulls I have experienced on a stock DAO revolver is the Ruger LCR. It has (or at least mine did) a very smooth and light trigger for a revolver. Of course, it didn't compare to a semi-auto.
I have owned both the .38 model, and the .357 model. If you get the LCR, get the .357 model, even if you don't plan for your wife to shoot .357s in it. It is 3 oz heavier, which helps with recoil, and the frame is steel, which makes it more durable that the aluminum frame .38 model.
I just bought a Model 19 - 3 at a local shop, and it has the sweetest trigger I have ever felt in DA. In SA, it is downright scary light....just the lightest touch of my finger sends the hammer home! If you do go with a DA/SA revolver, and especially one like the M19 I now have, you will need to coach your wife never to cock the revolver...to fire it DA mode only. If she does cock it (and I am following this advice myself) there is just too much chance of an ND. In a tense and adrenaline filled encounter, it will be all to easy to put her finger on that too-light trigger, and fire unintentionally.
