Don't scrimp on a holster. Your life depends on concealment and good control. You get the best concealment from a pancake holster, at the expense of a lot of belt space. A hybrid loop and slot holster (folded design) is good, but doesn't hold the top strap as tightly to your side. Any holster used for self defense should allow one-hand reholstering.
A custom holster will come tight and need a certain amount of breakin, but last for years. A lot of people make good OWB holsters. I like Grizzle and Alessi for top quality design and materials, but the Sparks VM2 is the best for IWB carry.
