Good news for her but if it hadn't been for the Ray Rice assault case I bet she wouldn't have been so lucky, she would have probably been a example cases.

"BEEP, BEEP, BEEP" That's the sound of the DA backpedaling after all of the negative press on this case and especially the fact that Rice was allowed into the PTI program despite that fact the domestic battery defendants are NEVER allowed into that because of the serious nature of domestic battery.
Good for her. If the charges are dropped, she hopefully won't have a problem at renewal time.
I think it would make sense for instructors to point out that permits in one state may not be honored in others. Not that all states require (or should) classes before licensing, but having that information would have saved MS. Allen a lot of trouble.

It's covered in all my classes, believe me! But you have to remember, not all Americans realize how far some of the "original 13" colonies have fallen from the tree of Liberty. And quite a few of the rest of them, too.

Wait, what's this nonsense? Standard self defense JHPs are classified as an AP bullet in NJ? That's ridiculous, at least the original charge was legitimate based on her not having a valid NJ carry permit. Being charged with a felony for carrying legal self defense ammo is ludicrous.

It seems that possession of any hollow point ammo outside of your home in NJ is a crime. So heading for Florida or points south from NY or New England with your shootin' iron, better have it locked in a box, unloaded, and with no JHP ammo anywhere in the vehicle. Would love to see a sign at the first southbound exit in Delaware saying "Get your hollowpoints here."

When I headed south to Texas via car early this summer, I avoided New Jersey. I drove through CT on Route 84 and stayed in upstate New York until I got to PA. I refused to drive through NJ just because of this type of thing. My guns were locked in a box, were unloaded, and the ammo was in a different box. No matter, I didn't want to chance it.
It's why I don't fly through any NY/NJ Port Authority airport.

No, it underscores the need to know the laws of states to which you are traveling and the limitations and restrictions of your CCW permit.

I saw the attorney for this lady on TV after this most recent decision. He said he told the prosecutor his client would be satisfied with a "two game suspension".
She is lucky for the Rice fiasco I expect, otherwise she would still be in big trouble.

Yes - Wouldn't it be great if each state honored "with full faith and credit" the CCW permits of other states of the Union?

Well glad NJ came to it's senses. Glad they gave her a way out. Should never have been charged in the first place.

This is great news. I am all for equal protection under the law. This woman made a pretty good mistake but we will all be better served with justice rather than legalities.

Believe it NJ is dangerous and requires more attention from NRA and 2A.
NJ gun laws are designed twofold entrapment and prosecution. Many people trying to get out but cant sell homes.

All selling requires is a buyer and seller to reach an agreement on price. Around here, people have had their homes "on the market" for years, but refuse to lower the price to attract a buyer.
Insurance, taxes, heating costs, maintenance, etc quickly make up the difference had they sold for a lower price.
I'm not ready to leave yet, but if/when I do, my house is selling for whatever the market is for it.

I know that this is Monday morning qb'ing, but her biggest mistake was discussing the matter with the officer who stopped her. With laws like this being enforced, I would have to exercise my right to remain silent.

According to Tom Gresham on Gun Talk, PA doesn't require a concealed carry class and she didn't take a class.
Unfortunate mistake.

That combined with some states' permits being as easy to get as a fishing license is what makes the national reciprocity a hard sell for some. It sucks.
Hearing good news in this story is a welcomed relief. When I first started to follow the story, it really got me down. She's been put through the ringer thanks to the idiot law makers and enforcers in NJ.

Indiana doesn't require training to get a handgun license, just a clean criminal record. We've been just fine for decades without the expense and questionable value of state mandated training.

Well said.Everyone has the "investment" notion stuck in their head, especially with real estate(and often enough, for guns too.Other losses are more readily accepted). It's gotta be a moneymaker,or full cash out at worse.
Nothing is like that.Times change, thinking changes.
The market for anything is ,what it is,when it is,and it isn't worth a premium just because it's yours..All of the wishing in the world, isn't going to change it.

You have a somewhat valid point Mike, but according to her statements yesterday, she had it in her purse, along with her vehicle paper-work, planning a range trip for the next day.
If I recall, she only had the gun a day or so prior to the stop.
If she had to "dig" through the purse to comply with the officer, he very well could have seen the gun and gone to shooting, so it may have been wise to volunteer the information that she had a "permit" and gun.

After reading up on Jerseys PTI program....I gotta ask? What in the Lords name will they put this poor woman thru, based on her offense?
Here is a link: Pre Trial Intervention Program (PTI)
It wipes your slate clean, but will the azzhats in Jersey mandate she NOT carry while back in her FREE state of Pennsylvania, until completion of PTI? There will be no conviction when PTI is completed, so she will not loose her RIGHT to possess firearms.
After reading up on PTI I can't imagine what they will have her do.
Glad this worked out for her.

Write all your comments heres the deal - NRA and 2A need to concentrate on NJ period. ALL NJ gun laws need to be challenged in a Court of Law. Many NJ residents wont donate because they feel above two not doing enough. Many are trying to sell and move out like myself but believe me its very hard.

No hollow points allowed? So that's why they call it the Ricochet state.

It is sad that there are states within The Union that I just will not enter. New Jersey is one of them. There are two others. It is because of this that I fully understand succession desires by many. When a state becomes un-American, then I no longer consider it a state worthy of my business or interest.

I have been following this drama. I hate to see anyone treated this way especially a law abiding citizen that is exercising her 2nd amendment rights!! These people don't get it, New Jersey would be a much safer place if they would get with the program and show the trash that makes there state one of the most dangerous in the U.S that they are not going to take anymore **** off these criminals and its not the fine citizens of NJ but the pompous asses that think they know whats best for there citizens. That is all

Is it hollow points or Jacketed hollow points?
A 158gr. lead swchp out of a .38 is potent medicine.
As far as carrying into NJ unpermitted, well, sorry to say, but she was guilty of that. We all have to know the laws about when and where to carry or not.
BUT, this was a classic case of where common sense was not common. She should have recieved a warning and had to disable and lock her gun up while in state. I'm not LE or a lawyer, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express, so this is just my opinion.
