Issued Glock 23 90% of the time, almost always with a off-duty only 442 .38 snub carried as a backup. Authorized Glock 22 off duty gun 5% and a Ruger GP-100 4" .38 5% of the time. I can still run a revolver pretty well after all these years...

Depending on how far from home I go I may have my 19 or 66 in a Bianchi 9R or Simply Rugged OWB.
I haven't carried my Glock 27 or 1911 since I had surgery. Many reasons for the option change.

The model 642 PRO gets the nod exclusively! Five rounds of .38 Special JHP "performance" ammo snapped into Moon clips....VERY compact, potent, and 100% reliable for that first shot on target!

The only revolver in my carry rotation, stoked with five rounds of the venerable FBI load, Federal 158 gr LSWCHP .38 Spl +P.

Since I first posted this thread I have tightened up my rotation

I carry the 386 Night Guard the most. Followed by the Glock 19. The M&P340 sees a fair amount of carry as well, particularly when I feel like carrying something light.

The 386NG is incredibly accurate for me. No problem getting 7 rounds of 357 to basically touch at 20 to 25 feet. It is a super sweet carry piece (I actually have two cause I like it so much).

The 9mm Shield is actually an amazing gun. It weird, I have quite a few larger semi-autos, but I shoot the Shield most accurately. It is an incredibly accurate little gun to begin with.

I have made some mods to the Shield that only help in the accuracy department: I switched out the factory sights with Warren tactical sights (fiber optic front and all black rear). I also replaced the factory trigger and trigger parts with an Apex trigger and accuracy kit. It's the Apex competition kit with the 3lb trigger. It's an amazing upgrade. The 3lb pull is an absolute joy. It also has the shortest reset of any serious caliber gun I own. (I have a couple of 22s I built with Volquartsen triggers that have a shorter reset, but not wise for carry purposes!). Truth is this little gun does it all and is 100% reliable. It could easily serve as my only carry, but I love revolvers. But I highly recommend the Shield as a primary.

I also carry some other J Frames, like my 342PD, but I thought the 340 would represent the J Frame group

I've made a bit of a change since my first post ma' own self. I first posted my post war transitional 2" M&P, but it's going into a shadow box for display before too much wear starts to show. I recently acquired a neato little "post-lock" S&W 642, and fired the 400th round through it this morning, and decided "I can work with this."

So, here be my new regular companion.



The mini-revolver is a terribly insecure little thing, always insisting on tagging along no matter which big-brother is holding center seat.

Runs 9mm, .38 Super, .38 Special, .357 Magnum. Same moonclips/combination works in my SP 101, too.

I like the ballistics and manners of the Super and 9mm in this gun. And these calibers in the SP 101 is cheating!

Nothing to laugh at. I carried one of those for years while on flight-duty.

When hiking in the woods, I like carrying my 66-3 snubby. I also rotate the same 66 for cc, but have found myself carrying a Sig P290RS a lot during warmer weather, because it conceals easier under light clothing. With winter just around the corner, a G19 will join the rotation.

There's some beautiful workhorses in this thread! ...many that I'd be afraid to EDC. Mine's nothing special, some might say the standard recipe around these parts for EDC. A 442 no lock loaded with Gold Dots in a Lobo Gun Leather IWB and occasionally pocket carried in a Sticky.

I carry a 642 no lock mostly but running a real close 2nd is a 638. During colder weather I carry a 2" Ruger SP 101 loaded with 357's for penetration through heavy clothing. When I travel to heavier populated cities where the chances of multiple attackers increase I either carry a G-26 with spare mags or the Sp101 with the 642 in my pocket and spare ammo. That is my carry rotation right now.

1. S&W Model 60 (No Dash) w/ one speed loader
2. Glock Model 17 w/ one extra magazine

586-8 4inch with galco owb holster.

S&W 60-7 (stainless) in .38 Sp. Pocket holster, + speed loader.

I really can't say I carry one most often over the others.

I carry them all and which one comes out depends on what I'm carrying for...

When out deer hunting, its the 29, 629, or 460 generally.

When out for an ATV ride or general walk in the woods it usually is either the 19, 1911, or 28.

When going some place i want to carry and have to be well concealed it is the m36 or PPK/S.

They all get holster time.. but the 29 is my baby so that only comes out on special occasions.

My 60-9 gets the majority of the carry duty, loaded with .38+P. Honestly my .40 Shield is my most common carry weapon probably getting 75% of the workload.

My 66-5 typically stays home for HD duty.

My 627-0 occasionally takes a walk in the woods with me, but that's pretty rare and it is carried open, not concealed.

The other revolvers are relegated to target duty.

442 fits in my shorts pocket with a nice little holster. If not that a 60 newer model 357 also slides in the pocket. We have a little farm so grab what you want throw it in the seat of the gator and go. Could be most anything but back to your question usually the 442

This is not rocket science. I carry the 3913 as a NYreload in an ankle holster when I am carrying the M&P 340 in my pocket as my primary, thus 5% of the time I have both the 340 and the 3913, 90%of the time only the 340, and 5% of the time the 329. This adds up to 100% by my old school math. Your mileage obviously varies ... must be new math.

Kimber Solo mostly, but use this 940 as backup and often carry it all by it's lonesome self, loaded with 9mm rimmed ammo with speedloaders in my pocket.

My most carried is an old, worn S&W M10 3".

A revolver is carried maybe 40% of the time & when it's for Ccw it is a S&W Model 60-7 if it's during deer season it will either be My 4" Stainless Python or a Ruger RedHawks in .44 Magnum

I carry either a Ruger SR9C or LCR .38 right now. I like those for CCW as they are not expensive and I don't need to fret on wear or carry bruises. Mostly I carry the Lcr which is so light and really a remarkable ccw revolver IMO. However. I have a SW classic re-issue Centennial model 40-1 that I have been safekeeping. I am ordering a set of elk stags and a T-grip for it. When those arrive I will carry that exclusively in the winter and go to my IA PPK for summer carry. I will probably sell my sr9c even though I like it. The lcr will probably stay and be my truck gun "as they say".

Ok , finally got to thinking about this thread. Caused to consider the parameters. Is this refering to a specific individual gun, or multiple examples of same gun ? Is this weighted to current/ recent times, or cumulative ?

Overall holster time probably as M15 ahead of M10's. During my time period of having wide lattitude of selecting my duty gun saw 4in M65 about 50% , with everything else combined the other 50% ( as primary gun). On my own time , my fetish for 2in) K Frames is nearing a decade. Damn , I just realized time marches on , more than a decade. But it is random coin toss between M1 and M64.

I liked my M469 well enough in the day , but when I got a civillian P225 it quickly became my default bottomfeeder. For the last 5-ish years is now a random coin toss between that and P90.

How do you know what situation will arise until you are already in it? You have no idea what situation will present itself when you walk out the door every morning. Isn't that like trying to predict the weather?

My 642 goes with me about 99% of the time.

Situation was probably a poor word choice on my part, but I was referring to the activities I'd be doing/places I'd be. I.e. hiking in the backwoods vs going in town to go shopping.

Most days it's my model 60. In my pocket or on a magnet under my desk .

Right now my 3" 65 comes with me more than any other smith. But I do have a 2.5" 19 on layaway that I plan on carrying quite a bit.

There's an old saying, "Beware the man who only owns one gun, he probably knows how to use it."

I carry one of two guns: A S&W 65-5 that I've personally tuned in the summer and a Glock 17 that I've personally tuned in the winter. I carry them in the same location/position, in the same style and brand of holster. The only difference is the position/location of my spare mags/speed loaders.

When I went thru the police academy in 1980 we all carried revolvers and they drilled into us carrying the same type of weapon in the same location off duty. They told a story of a big city cop, the years have taken away his name and department, that was killed attempting to stop an armed robbery of a bank when he was off duty. He had the drop on the suspect from behind when the perp suddenly turned and fired three rounds into the officers chest, killing him instantly. Witnesses stated that during the shooting the officer was trying to return fire, they could see him pulling the trigger, but apparently his weapon malfunctioned and didn't go off. During the investigation it was found the officer was carrying a 1911 style pistol off duty whereas his issue weapon, the one he was trained with by the department, was a revolver. The 1911 was found next to the officer with the safety in the on position. The 1911 functioned perfectly at the range the next day.

I've been teaching firearms for over thirty years to both cops and private citizens and I teach the same lesson every class.

Either of these are my EDC gun, but I really like carrying the smith more:

OK, I'm one of those guys with a "carry rotation" although I'll readily admit that one of the three, the 32 HE snub (post-War I-frame) is my favorite and most frequently carried. The pre-War 38 Terrier and the Baby Chief are both equally easy to handle and can readily substitute for the 32 since they are all the same size and fit the same holsters.

As for the "how" of my EDC, although I have an ankle holster, a shoulder holster, a little belt holster and even a suede pocket pouch, I mainly carry in the consoles of my vehicles in a custom made Kydex™ holster that is easily moved from car to SUV and back... it will be even better when I get the Velcro™ tabs on the back the way I want it.

Oh yeah, here is a recent picture of the "triumvirate." Can you pick out the 32? See, the rotation works!
