Nicely done. As I score it that's a perfect score on the Texas CHL test. Here's my rendition of that test:

OK, boys and girls, I'm back. I tried again and this is the result -- first 20 rounds through the gun today.
I don't think it would be possible to come any closer and still not make it. But, the target doesn't lie.
Not giving up,
Whisper

That's close Whisper. I'd have to see that target in person to judge that top right hole. Still, that would have got you a free class had you done it in my CCW class.

It touches the line. I had to put on my reading glasses to be sure, but it's not a clean target. I'll get there, though.

Yeah, by the letter of the law it's not a successful attempt.
Did another class yesterday and no one even came close. So far, out of 131 live students, only two have come close, but no one has succeeded. I would have given you that one.

I am now contemplating the smallest gun that I can accomplish this with. I wonder if I could pull it off with a mini revolver. That would be quite a focusing of will.

Doing it with any revolver in DA is increasing the difficulty. Using one with a tiny grip is that much more challenging.
Go for it.

Well Mr. Rastoff, I learned what my limitations are today. I'm a big believer in archer and not the arrow, no matter the size of the arrow. Well this little guy is an absolute pleasure to shoot. I believe that there is a good chance for accuracy despite the tiny sight radius. This was the first time I have fired it in about six months cold with no shooting other than the 20 shots. Bone stock using CCI short CB. 4@3yds 6@5yds 6@7yds 4@10yds. I believe I got them on all on paper, but these are old targets and it was hard to tell with the tearing.
First pic is the three yard group. Second pic is the final grouping.

I'm back again, this time with my new FN 509. I shot the challenge with it today -- my first rounds through the new gun.
Neither the trigger nor the sights in the 509 are as good as the Apex and Dawson parts in the M&P that I shoot most often, but this first outing suggests that perhaps the 509 and I might develop a beautiful friendship.
Cheers,
Whisper

What are the dimensions of the orange spot? Can I use a 3x5 notecard or is that too big? 1" stickers work too.

The goal is to put them all inside a 2"x 3".

I've posted a .pdf of a target you can print, but here it is again. It looks bad in the thumbnail, but it's right.
You can print it once and then measure yourself, but 2"x3" is sufficient to do the challenge.

During this iteration, do you have to present from the holster with your support hand?

Nope. You transition from two hands to the support hand only.

Got a new pistol and took this challenge with the first 20 shots ever. It's a CZ 75 Cold War Edition. Might be a stretch to say it will be a carry or home defense gun, but with 16+1 of 9mm (and 20 rounders available) I could do worse. Aced the challenge with about a 1 5/8" group. Didn't cheat either--I took all the first shots of a string double action.

Me again.
I've probably shot this challenge 20 times since December. On a good day I would have one or two misses. (On a bad day, well...let's talk about something else.)
I have shot the M&P 9 since 2006, upgrading it along the way with Dawson/Warren sights, an Apex sear, and finally an Apex barrel. I've occasionally used other guns in the challenge, including the Shield and most recently an FN 509. But I kept coming back to the M&P 9 since it's been my most consistent performer and I have many thousands of rounds through it. I know this gun pretty well.
Yesterday I went out and tested my new HK VP9. It's absolutely box stock.
More testing is needed, but there may be a change of allegiance in the works. This heater seems to suit me.
Cheers,
Whisper

Oooohhhh, I'm calling that good! Welcome to a very small club.
Yes, H&K makes a fine gun and the VP9 is a good one.

Still plugging away. No where near as good as some of the pics I've seen. For me, it's all mental. I rush myself for no reason. I also don't think about every shot like I should.

Yeah! I remember those targets -- 1986 & 1987 ! The guy that owns two hand guns probably shoots them quite well ! ! !

Have intended to shoot this for some time. Today I remembered while at the range. That's a 3.5" circle on the target that LE uses here in OK. It's not pretty, but they are all in there. Used the G23 I carry daily.

By the criteria laid out in the OP, this is not a successful attempt at the challenge. However, it is very good shooting. I'm sure you're capable of meeting the challenge and would love to see it again with the correct target.

What is it you'd like to see? I've posted plenty of videos of me shooting. There are plenty of pictures in this thread of targets that are almost there. Any one of those guys could lie and say they did it without posting a picture. Yet, they chose to show that they instead got close. As far as I'm concerned, that's what I call integrity.
Here's an example of what I mean:
This was my attempt with a Ruger GP100 Match Champion. Not successful, but not bad either. Still haven't succeeded with that gun, but I'll keep trying.
There are also a few pics of successful attempts as well.

Seen this thread but never really read what the “challenge” was. Now that I’ve read it I might give it a go next time I’m at the range. I’ll likely try it with two or three of my favorite carry guns and expect I should fare well. Maybe I’m wrong and will totally embarrass myself. I’ll also give it a go with my 442 after I run it with my semi autos just to test myself.

I know, close, but no cigar. I nabbed some B27 centers today. I'll work on it.

No B27's at the range, so I had to use what we had. The blue oval measures 4"X2 1/8".
M&P 9L, Speer Gold Dots.......

Based on the measurements you provided, I measured your target...
...and based on that measurement, I think we have another successful target! Well done. Yes, your oval is a little taller than the B-27, but your group will fit inside the correct oval. You are now in a very small group.

Been a while since I’ve posted but been shooting the challenge and competing IDPA and USPSA. Got a new gun and very happy with the accuracy so here it is. Pretty happy with the group size but will need to adjust the sights a bit to keep them all in.

That's some good shooting. Can't read the calipers because of the picture angle. Is that 1.3"? What gun were you shooting?

Thanks, not near as good as some I’ve seen on this thread. I jerked the trigger on a few of the shots, so some areas to work on.
The group size was 1.530 a 40.cal STI 2011.
The gun I can tell is capable to shoot way better than what I did. Need to go for that under 1.00 group shakyshoot got a while back...
That was an impressive display of shooting skill.

Did the drill a bit different today with my M&P, working on presenting the gun from low ready each time and tracking the sights at the break of the shot (need to practice calling my shots)
5 at 3yds
5 at 5yds
5 at 7yds
5 at 10yds
5 at 15yds
5 at 25yds
Not all X but all 10!

Effort two. Same Smith, mixed 100gr Remington and a few 115gr HSMs. This gun shoots 100gr low.

Went to the range today and did:
4 rounds, 3 yards
6 rounds, 5 yards
6 rounds, 7 yards
4 rounds, 10 yards
.45 shield
230 gr. Blazer FMJ
Two handed hold.
Started cold (first rounds fired for the day).
For some reason I was shooting right. After I fired these 20, my grouping on the Shield (& CZ-75 I was shooting) centered up. I found that the hard part was shooting at 3 yards. I'll try again next time out with the CZ.

Another try, different gun.
S&W Model 10-2
.38 Special handloads 158 gr TMJ
Two handed-double action.
First rounds fired of the day.
4 rounds--3 yards
6 rounds--5 yards
6 rounds--7 yards
4 rounds--10 yards
This is more difficult than I first thought.

Believe it or not, this is the most common response from those who try it. Most think, "Slow fire, at not long distance? I'll have no trouble keeping it within an inch." Alas, that's not the case.
It is challenging. Not the most difficult. Neither is it the most representative of defensive shooting. Doing it as your first rounds of the day gives you some idea of how you'll do when cold. If you really want to ramp it up, add time pressure.

I've shot North of 1200 rds. (One thousand, two hundred) maybe more, and haven't cleaned it yet!! I may give it another try tomorrow. Been a while since my last attempt.
I stopped posting targets as they all looked....similar.

Changed it up a bit today. I used both my Shield and my G26, shooting 5 from the Shield on the Left target, 5 from the G26 on the right target, then changing the distance.
The 2 Orange Peel targets are 5.5" in diameter.
5 rounds each pistol--3 yards
5 rounds each pistol--5 yards
5 rounds each pistol--7 yards
5 rounds each pistol--10 yards
5 rounds each pistol--15 yards
As always, I had a couple fliers at 15yds.

My personal best with the challenge. I recently realized that I look at the bullet hole after each shot. Now I aim, and ignore the holes until I'm done shooting. Made a huge difference for me. This is an 8" target.

Well Rastoff, I finally did this again. My first post shooting this challenge was so bad that I knew I could only get better. No cheating, had the shakes pretty bad, but it was the first shots of the day.
Firearm was my Shield 9mm that I carry. No excuses, it is what it is. I might try it again in September, when I turn 75. :-)
Have a blessed day,
Leon
