Here is a good story I read on NBC News (surprisingly) about a successful self defense shooting. Thought yall would be interested. Cheers!

If they hadn't been previous media people it probably would have been soft-pedaled.

What a scenario! It pays to be alert and on at all times. Just one thought...it's pretty tough to be in a situation like that coming out of the shower. Seems that they both were on it.

I dunno. Albuquerque is a jungle (and so is the whole world!), and it is chock full of predators, most of whom have seemingly no fear of death. There have been about three self defense shootings there in the past week or so. Incidents are taking place all over the metro, not just in the "bad" parts of town. And not just after the sun goes down either! My FIL lives there and has since the 50's. My wife grew up there. I HATE to go there, but we must. I'm always glad to get away safely.

I was surprised and pleased to learn that these folks who most of us would have expected to be opposed to personal protection were in fact very willing to protect themselves. And I think that quite a few folks are beginning to understand that it might be a good idea to get or be prepared to do the same thing. And regardless of the reasons why this got National exposure and most of the other self defense shootings there do not, I'm glad that it did. Folks need to hear it and know that it is possible to be attacked and prevail. It should be obvious that without the means at hand and the willingness to use the means at anytime and any place, one is nothing much but bait for the hyenas.

Most likely the assailant would have killed both of them after he collected their valuables. Just goes to show, you have to be aware of what's going on around you or you might end up in a casket.

At the end of the video they mentioned that the police said the guns were legal. In NM I can't think of a way they would have been illegal.
