Does Anyone Carry a S&W 627 Performance Center 2.65"?
Tell us about it. What do you like and any suggestions. Your ammo preference? Holster suggestion or preference. Have you changed out the grips?

Come on you stubby 8-shot .357 Magnum toting fans chime in! :D

I know you are out there. I can here you breathing. ;)

How about this pic of five Barnes TAC-XPD 125 Grains shot from a 2" Kimber K6s, Average Expanded Diameter (in.) was 0.75 and Average Bullet Velocity (fps) was 1241 so the 2.65" barrel velocity would be higher than that from a S&W 627 2.65".

I nearly purchased the .44 Magnum chambered version of this Revolver, the Performance Center 629 UDR last month, but it ended up selling out before I could and I ended up getting something else. That said, the thought had crossed my mind that it was small enough for Concealed Carry, and would have made a decent carry piece loaded with .44 Special or moderate magnums.

I carried the 627 PC for awhile. IWB around 2:30. No issues, the factory eagle grips were good for concealment but not my favorite. Switched them out for some VZs. Had a bug to get a 586 L-Comp so I ended up trading the 627 for one. I would own another 627 but I would also seriously consider getting the 327 Pug nose instead. Same capacity but much, much lighter.

I carried both my 627 and 657 PDRs when they first came out

I prefer the old Factory Combat grips in any of there variations over those Secret Service boot grips. I used the Factory holster which is made for them by Gene DeSantis

Then the 2" 327 came out. When I got mine in 2004 I switched to it as it could even be pocket carried in 5.11's Covert Khakis or other pants/jackets with BIG pockets. I like the Pachmayr Compacs on these guns

The 2" 327 weighs in at one ounce lighter than a Model 60 chambered for 38 Special.

Just 4 years later I got my 2 1/2" 327 Night Guard. It is a bit heavier than the 2" 327 but it has better sights and that extra weight helps mitigate recoil to some degree. The Night Guard is still small enough and light enough to fit in 5.11's Covert Khakis so I was thrilled at this new revolver

As to ammunition in any of these, Initially I was carrying the 158 grain Remingtons, but that is because I had come into 7+ cases of it. Once all of that was shot up I switched to the Hornady 140 grain XTP.

My third option is still a 125 grain JHP with the Remington SJHP as my favorite load of all time.

All of the ammunition I shoot is FULL POWER

I realize that Full Power ammunition is not for everybody and a 357 lite is still better than a 38 Special
