Fortunately, we have trained professionals such as you two fine folks to set us all straight in this 100% serious thread based on an undefined scenario in which the average joe schmoe has to prepare for war.

But seriously, this thread isn't meant to be taken that seriously, as it represents an extremely unlikely scenario in which we all have to fight for our lives with whatever we've got, with the focus being on pistols of all things.

If you read the OP you'll see that this whole thread is based on a rather strange statement I've seen folks make in threads about their carry guns not being their first choice as something they'd bring into battle, as if such a thing even exists. It's basically a silly, sarcastic question posed for fun as an excuse to show off whatever pistol they fancy or otherwise consider to be their most combat effective option.

Rest assured, we'll leave all the fighting in your capable hands, this thread is just for fun. Thanks for your service, lugging around all that heavy equipment and marching into battle, so that we don't have to!

That implies that bullet diameter is everything. It's not.

A .44magum is a LOT more powerful than a .45acp.

And a .357magnum is more powerful than a .45acp.

He's just quoting a variation of an old joke; "I carry a .45 because they don't make a .46."

Besides, a 1911 holds at least a round or two more than a typical 5 or 6-shot Revolver, and a lot of folks will argue that firepower is more important than mere power alone, so even if he was being serious, there would still be a counter-argument there.

I'm not sure why folks are taking this thread so seriously all of a sudden though.

Ridiculous as these threads may seem at first, I like them because they make you think about missions, firearm choices, etc. They're fun! I've noticed my "Walter Mitty" choices have gotten more tame and light-weight over the years! Must be getting old...

These threads are fun. I hardly own any handguns tbat aren't revolvers, so I like to picture myself in the physical condition of my early 20's (Turning 50 soon) carrying my S&W 325 revolver. I have 3 speedloader carriers, a moonclip server and 120 or so loaded moon clips to fuel that fantasy.

I am not going to read all the posts so I will state this: I am starting to like my revolvers more than my semi-autos. I just guess because I am getting older or maybe senile but I am comfortable with six plus a couple of reloads.

I presume you mean of the guns that I own?
Thus my choice would be....

Why? Because as Sigp220.45 said - "It already knows what to do."
