Default Crimson Trace Free Batteries for Life program

Hope this is the right forum section to get an answer. Have been in the free batteries program since 2016. Each year, in Jan, I provide the info and receive three sets of batteries for my j frame and two Rugers. Everything was ok until Feb '21 when CT said they had to come up with new packaging to mail the batteries, and they said to allow more time. The batteries did arrive later. In Jan '22 I requested them and was told to allow 2-3 months. A couple weeks ago I asked when they will arrive and received the same email telling me to wait 2-3 months. Anybody know what's up with CT?

Smith & Wesson bought them and customer service went from 'instant' to
'corporate'.
plus the fact that lithium batteries can no longer be mailed and must go ups with special labels.
probably easier to just go buy some when needed.

No joking here. I live about 20 minutes from them and always had great customer service. I would just take them in 4 or 5 boxes from those grips that I own, and would walk out with the batteries. I had a switch fail a few years back so dropped in with just the grips which I had removed in the parking lot (didn't want to walk in with a j-frame in hand). I was expecting to walk out with a new switch, but instead was given a brand new set of grips new in the box. Always top notch customer service.

Recently a friend had a set that failed. He changed the batteries and tinkered with them but could not get them working. I told them they were close enough to just drop by. He stopped in with the broken grips in the original box only to be told that he would need to get on line and fill out a form then send them in. Does this make any sense?

Default guess what, guys

After posting my gripe here I decided to call CT customer service. No luck, couldn't find a phone number. I emailed a not so nice "what's going on" query and just got an email reply. Guy said they lost a lot of data from Dec. through Feb which included all of the batt for life requests! He said I will see my 6 batts in 2-3 weeks and they are being shipped from Oregon. We'll see and I'll post the results.

“…Service went from instant to corporate…”
Succinct and accurate explanation!

I'm aware that batteries can be purchased, but why would I want to spend $15 to get six batteries that CT promised to send for free? BTW, I used to manage a camera store where we sold those batts for $2-$2.50 each - they cost us less than 29 cents a piece and were our highest profit item.

A couple months ago I read online that CT was no longer offering the free batts for life pgm to new customers, but that anyone already in the pgm, I believe prior to 2021, would still get them after submitting the requests once per year. My OP questioned why it was taking so long (Jan to May) and asked if anyone KNEW what was going on. If you read my second posting you will see that CT lost several months of requests. A few minutes ago I received an email from them that my batteries were shipped today and should arrive by the 26th. To sum up, CT screwed things up when they lost the info but if you were in their pgm prior to the cutoff date, and you submit new request(s) you ought to get free batteries. Seems to me they're owning their problem and are rectifying it as well as could be expected.

Batts arrived today. CT did work through their problems regarding the free batteries for life pgm. If you haven't received your batts for this year, please read thru this thread and reapply; you will most likely get your batteries. Thank you, CT!

I emailed CT the other day about a product they no longer make that i was having a problem with. They message right back and because they no longer carry it they have offered me a 50% discount on anything I want and they said this offer will no expire just in case I do not have the extra money to buy something right now.

Default that's great customer service

Looks like CT is doing all they can to keep former customers like you and me, and to get new ones. Good for them, and for us.
