I have been a daily CCW carrier since Jan '64, when I entered LE. Given that amount of time I have gone through a fair number of handguns and carry methods.

The ongoing challenge was always to balance 'enough gun' (as Robert Ruark would put it) with comfort and concealment, and thus the willingness to EDC.

I went through a number of semi-autos and revolvers during this time, too numerous to mention here. Overall the best balance, for me, was the K frame S&W. During this time, sometime in the mid-'70s, our department adopted the S&W 66 for mandatory carry, 4" for uniforms, 2 1/2" for plain clothes, and optional for command personnel.

Unfortunately our experience with these 66s was, at best, beset with problems. In '81 I was promoted to the top of the civil service chain. Shortly thereafter I had the opportunity to switch my patrol division from 4" 66s to 4" 686s, at no cost beyond sales tax. For my division, the largest in the department, the switch to the 686 eliminated the 66 problems. The 686s were perfect right out of the box. We still had the 66s for the other divisions though, and the 2 1/2" for plain clothes and detectives. Since it was my discretion whether to dress in uniform or plain clothes, I checked out a 2 1/2" 66 for when I was in plain clothes. I concluded that this configuration was ideal for .38+p or .357 concealed carry. Looking far ahead to retirement I decided I wanted such a configuration revolver for EDC, but not wanting the same issues we had experienced with the 66s, I chose a 2 3/4" Ruger Security Six. From the time of purchase I have had a nylon Hogue Monogrip and a spurless hammer on it. Great choice, great shooter, great revolver.

But the winds of change were blowing. We went through a transition period during which revolvers were issued, but personnel could also purchase their own semi-auto (from a wide ranging approved list) in 9mm, .40 or .45 ACP. During this time one of our CSI guys offered me a 9mm S&W 467 that the courts had assigned to our department following disposition of a court case. The department could use it as they pleased, but could not transfer it. I took a look at this pistol and found immediately that this double stack grip fit my large hand better than any other handgun I had ever handled. I shot it and really liked it, but the action was terrible. I had my local gunsmith do an action job on it, on my dime, despite the fact that I could never own it. With that action job on top of the fit to my hand, I just could not miss with that pistol. I had gone from a 4" 686 to a light weight cutdown 3 1/2" barrel semi-auto and could shoot it more accurately at 25 yards (the max on our qualification course) than my 686, and much more quickly. I was smitten.

But that was not to last. The department decided on the full size .40 Glock (forget the number) for all personnel, foolishly avoiding the then mid size Glock for plain clothes or command carry.. I could keep on carrying the 467 off-duty, but I decided I should have this great design for my own. So I bought the then current iteration, the 6906, and had the gunsmith do the same action job.

That pistol was/is the ideal balance. But then later along came the Glock 26, even more compact, double stack grip (along with added Pearce magazine extender), great trigger right out of the box, absolute reliability. This further refined my preferences and I carry it to this day. I won't be changing to a more compact later version because the State of Calif, fearful of something, I guess, won't allow these later versions to be sold in this crime free bastion of safety. Only too happy to contribute my part of course.

Even in the extremely safe area in which we live, I still carry every day. Even if we are only going to the closest town to shop, 30 miles, I want it with me in the event I come across an injured animal that has been struck by a car and needs to be put down for humane purposes. I have several methods of carry to suit my preference at the time.

We are well past kids as residents here, so I can leave my EDC out for convenience. But that is only for convenience. If I am aware of a possible threat, four legged much more likely than two legged, I have my Remington 870. But we are in an area as free of crime as is possible anywhere. Our property, without it being too obvious, is a compound. That is not to say someone can't get in. They can, but it won't be quick and it won't be easy. Thus far, in 29+ years, home invasion robberies, or residential burglaries, are not an issue here. Mucho different from where we lived when I was working, because that was gang-central.

RetCapt makes some good points.... my Dad was a RetCapt too.

The S&W 6906 is a great balance of size, weight ,capacity 12+1 [extra mag(s) are 15rds w/ +2 adaptors] reliability and shootablity!

The Glock 26 even with the Pearce extender and a rounded trigger guard just wasn't right for me!

As posted earlier in my quiet "Burb of the Burgh" I'm good to go most days with a 3913 and an extra mag or 2

BAM-BAM,

We are closely akin here. The 467/6906 is still the best grip on any handgun I have ever grasped. The tuned action is the best, both DA and SA of any pistol I have ever handled. I have a S&W 52-2, and I think my 6906 SA is even better than my 52-2. It feels like pressing a micro switch and the pistol fires.

For recreational shooting I prefer my 6906. It is looks like any other small pistol. The knowledgeable will see its resemblance to its customized cut down 39/59 antecedents. Its performance makes me look really good.

Your 3913 is closely related to the 6906, so you can see my reasoning.

What I primarily preferred on the Glock was the greater concealability. Not being in a gang area any more I don't think I sacrificed anything on payload. The shorter grip with the Pearce extender is not perfect, but, in my opinion, a reasonable compromise.

But there is one additional factor I did not mention. We moved to where we are because we are both very outdoor people. I am also a fly fisherman. I often find myself in hostile environments, natural not man-made, where I may slip and fall, sometimes into and under water. Except for its Kydex holster (older model Blade-Tech), the Glock is in the open. That means there is a possibility I may lose my footing and fall against rocks or vegetation and impact on the Glock.

The 6906, besides the attributes I mentioned, is a beautiful piece of work. And they are no longer being made. I don't want to risk potentially damaging this pistol in these adverse environments. The Glock is easily and cheaply replaceable. In a worst case scenario where I have to use deadly force, whichever handgun I am carrying will go into evidence for however long and under unknown storage conditions. So there is an element of expendability here.

At the end of all this, I get maximum reliability and durability. Arguably there may be other handguns just as reliable as the Glock, but I have never seen an argument mounted that some other handgun is more reliable than the Glock.

The scariest sound in the jungle is 'click'. I don't ever want to hear it.

After a career plying the police trade I don’t find it that onerous to pack a pistol in civvies. After all the years of packing around a duty belt, vest etc. Also a trunk full of riot gear that we had to strap on during “demonstrations.” Usually it’s a Glock 19X or a Browning Hi-Power these days. Sometimes just a J frame if the back injuries are really flaring up.

My "knock about" "Truck" guns are a couple of S&W 915s I picked up used back in the 90s for IIRC about $200 apiece OTD. If I ever bust one then what's left will become "parts" for other 3rd gen guns.

Actually have extra parts from when I built my 6915 .... a 6906 frame mated to a 915 slide. CCO in 9mm.

I carry every single day, the only place I can't is the school I teach at. Even then, it takes seconds to have my gun back on me once I am in my vehicle. I was one of those people you describe who would not carry due to the hassle of it when I had a larger, heavier revolver. I found that if I wanted to carry everywhere I possibly could, the only option would be a gun under 20 oz with nothing else. Some might say it's crazy to not carry a reload/light/knife/tourniquet/gadgets but I have found the simpler the load out the more likely I'll have it on me.

I'd rather have a J Frame with no reload on me at all times possible than be decked out like an operator every few weeks when I have the time. If people want to do that, power to them, I am sure if something does go down they will be better off than I. My bet is that for most of us nothing ever happens and if it does I will at least have my J Frame on me and I am comfortable with that.

There is a gun on my hip or in my pocket 7 days a week every waking hour. Sometimes both.

I've been carrying on a daily basis since October of 2015 and that's no exaggeration. Even when I'm at home, I've always had at least a small gun in my pocket.

As for what I carry, that has gone through multiple changes over the years. My first carry gun was a Walther PPK/S chambered in .22LR, which I purchased in something of a hurry after a former classmate whom I'd been sharing a room with threatened to kill me over an argument we had, which I took seriously since he had once pulled a knife on me. He had been kicked out by this point, but fearing that he might come after me, I felt the need to begin carrying a firearm.

Knife + handgun photo thread-ti-lite-ppk-s-jpg

By the next year, having learned of the shortcomings of .22LR, I upgraded to a PPK/S chambered in .380 ACP.

Knife + handgun photo thread-custom_buck110-ppks_2-jpg

A few years later in June of 2019, I retired the PPK/S for a Ruger LCP, which shortly thereafter became my BUG as I made a SW40VE my primary carry gun in October of that year in response to wild boar sightings in my area.

Knife + handgun photo thread-autumn-winter_edc-jpg

In January of 2021 purchased a S&W Performance Center M&P40 Shield 1.0 which became my Warm Weather Primary EDC.

Knife + handgun photo thread-img_20220619_124321-jpg

In June of this year I purchased an M&P40c which has since replaced my SW40VE as my Cold Weather Primary EDC.

Knife + handgun photo thread-autumn_edc_loadout-jpg

So there you have it, I've been carrying a gun every day for the past 8 going on 9 years, and have been carrying two guns everyday for the past 4 years.

Retired LEO here. Also a department firearms instructor for 10 years. My daily carry gun is a lightweight officer’s model 1911 in .45acp. I use an outside the waistband leather Bianchi holster. In the very warm weather, sometimes I pocket carry my Charter Arms Police Bulldog snub. A six shot .38 Special.

This beat-up, much-used M49 has been my daily carry since the mid 80’s. It was always in my offhand pocket on duty, and aiwb off duty. For the past four decades, if I’m awake the M49 is aiwb. It’s easy to carry, I shoot it well, and see no reason to carry anything other.

I have plenty of pistols and I'm not a flavor of the day or fad person I carry what I like and feel comfortable with.most of my life I carried a Smith 36 till 2015 then I tried a G-23 didn't like the feel and with in a year it rusted .ever since that I've carried a S&W Bodyguard .380 and after I learned to adapt to this little gun I have been very happy with it.

An evident wear spot on my favorite pants from a favorite holster.
Prima facie evidence and I rest my case.

I have concealed carry almost every day since January of1966 when I became a LEO. I have migrated through various 1911s, Walther PPKs, snubby revolvers.

I am 80 years old now and pretty much confined to my recliner or a wheelchair but I am armed 24 hours a day with a P365 in an elastic waistband belt and holster at chest level. It comes off for showers, but that’s it.
It goes everywhere I go.

I’ve only known one person who genuinely carries a high cap 9mm on a daily basis, a Glock 19. But he is a retired local “character,” he carries OWB, and the Glock is only “loosely” concealed by an obvious gun vest. Everyone in town knows he carries, so it not exactly discreet. He’s an outlier, but I’ll admit I’m certain that if I see him, he’s armed. No matter what.

From my experience, certain women are *far* more likely to be no-joke, daily pistol carriers. They made the decision years ago to stick that .38 in their purse, the purse goes everywhere they go, and so they are armed all the time. But they could not tell you the type of ammo in the gun or the trigger weight.
Daily carry means the gun stays in your pants when you hang them over the chair at night.
Our local "character" sticks a 45 in his back pocket and walks about town. The cops know him and leave him alone.
I've seen more than one NAA or similar on a mother's hip when she's putting her groceries on the check-out conveyor, or she reaches for a candy bar for her kid and her shirt rides up.

Back in December I posted about my daily carry. It started back in 2004. Jan 1. We arrived in Florida in yet another winter hiding from North East Ohio’s winter. I brought a few guns with me and as at home a J-Frame is in my off hand pocket and most of the time a Shield 9 has been in my waist. If I’m just hanging at our apartment or strolling the immediate area I’ve carried only the J-Frame briefly but if we go anywhere else the Shield 9 goes also. At home we are in quiet suburbs. Here we are close to the beach and anywhere we go is Florida City Living. I’m not used to the City.

Just a PSA about daily carry.
A 3" blade and 22LR are now good for
admission to Valhalla.

depending on the day's activities, pocket holster with either LCP or 365/.380, which used to be a 365/9 until I discovered how accurate and easy to rapid fire on target the .380 model was.

I try to keep mine similar except for one.

Glock 19, 26 or 43 depending on clothing, carried same spot. 442 also gets carried, same spot, very rarely (going to CA at the beach) does it go in the pocket.

This post and thread seems to be trolling.

I've had my Pa licence/permit since 1978, my primary "Everyday Carry" has been some version of the S&W Model 39xx since 1990. If I'm away from home I usually up gun to a 12+1 Model 69xx or Beretta 92 Compact.

What the OP "thinks" is of no concern to me, he doesn't know me or 99.999% of us here, but based on his "experience" in a Texas town I've never heard of , he feels he can draw conclusions about how/when we, a large group of enthusiastic gun owners, exercise our Second Amendment rights.

Most folks here aren't "bragging" about their guns...this is a firearms Forum, what does he think we will be posting about... our lawnmowers?

I don't know anyone who carries a derringer or .25 acp..... a lot have gone to the new generation small autos like the Sig 365 or CSX. 9mm good capacity and easy to conceal.

Me, I'm still happy with my "EDC" 8+1 3913 in an IWB Sparks Summer Special and a spare magazine or two!

Rant over
I get what you're saying. And I get what the original poster is saying. In my opinion, it's just a curiosity.

Well said!

I have carried a firearm for 65 years. Open on the ranch and woods. Concealed before it was legal. Carry permit for 25 years. A variety of guns but now it's a Taurus GX4 all day every day. Within reach at home.

I too carry regardless of where I'm going. Current rotation is Kahr PM40 with spare magazine, Beretta Model 21 "Bobcat" with spare magazine and always on me is a NAA 22 LR in front pocket. When working out back in woods I carry a Charter Arms 22 mag revolver, kind of my kick around gun for woods walking

Part of my regular routine of prep to go out; wallet, keys, billfold, knife, spare ammo and gun. Gotten to the age where lighter is usually better, but depending on variables I sometimes go heavy. Sub compact G43, or G27, or some iteration of a 1911. Every. Time.

Retired LE. I carry everyday. I've carried J frame .38s and .357s, Sig 225, Glock 26, 19 and until a month ago a Glock 43 with 1 shot extensions. Now I carry an S&W 3953 IWB. Every time I leave the house, I'm armed. I'm not paranoid, I'm aware. The best fights are the ones avoided. But when given no choice, I'm going home.

I carry all day, every day a Kimber Micro 9 (early version with 3-dot sights) stoked with 115 gr. hollow points and a spare mag loaded with same. The gun rides OWB in a DeSantis holster that tucks up just under the last rib on my right side. Seatbelts don't bother it and there is no print-through on any type of shirt I choose to wear. A very comfortable rig to be sure!

At night my S&W 9 Shield within arm's reach keeps me and the wife safe. She packs a flat latch RB Model 36 in her purse whenever she steps out of the house. 5 rds. of HP 38 spl. keeps the goblins at bay. At the range, she's keepin' all of 'em within a 3-inch circle at 7 yds.

Daily carry person here- 90% of the time it’s a Glock 43 in a Foxx Holsters “Little Fox” IWB and the other 10% of the time it’s either a S&W Model 60 or Airweight J-frame in a Fobus OWB paddle. If I’m in the woods at deer camp, it’s a Glock 41 in a Craft Holsters leather belt holster (don’t really consider this EDC/CCW).

I have carried daily almost everywhere since 1971when I started in LE. I first had a 4" 66 and a model 60 as well as an AMT Backup,(hated that thing). When I moved to Colorado in 1980 I went to a 2.5" 66 while first in administration at the SD. Shortly thereafter, I went to carrying a 1911 almost exclusively for 25+years. I have many choices and now in retirement still carry every day, everywhere. I don't always carry in the house but have one within reach at all times. I am always armed when leaving the house. I was a very active Chief in my small town for almost 12 years as when I was the Undersheriff in Eagle County CO for 16. lots of people still know me from my LE career. although I have and occasionally carry a J frame in my pocket, I have gone to mid size .9mm's for the most part for higher capacity and better shoot ability.

Y'all DO understand that the companies are continually making these things, they don't wear out in 99.9999999999999999% of the use given by the end buyer and at some point the market, if left lone will get saturated and everyone will go out of bid'ness.
If there is not constant drivel written about "carry rotation", back up weapons how many shots is enough, bathrobe guns, etc. the gun companies would all be out of business. I'm guilty as much as anyone as I have wayyyy to many guns to justify by any standard. As far as true carry guns, the BG380 and the NAA .22 pretty much cover it for me those times I do carry-which AIN'T every day. My J frames pretty much stay in the drawer as the BG380 is more comfortable to carry WHEN I FEEL THE NEED. I don't even carry a .22 when on the boat anymore. If a snake "attacks" I'll whack it with the paddle. The thought of carrying on person in my home is pretty much nonsensical to me.
Don't tell me I can't do something like buy guns for every occasion, or can't carry a bazooka every day if I want to but I agree with the original poster's premise that most people do NOT carry E V E R Y D A Y is pretty much spot on. Good thing-bad thing nope-just reality.
But I gotta tell ya, this thread has been VERY entertaining!!

There is an old saying, Beware the man with only one gun, he probably knows how to use it."
But, I have always said, "Pity the man with only one gun, he's probably married!"

Thankfully, Wifey has never been that way, really. The owner at The Gun Rack in Kernersville told me once, "It is the sixth gun." He explained that she will fight you each time until you bring home that sixth gun and then she will conclude that you have a mental defect and just live with it.

This generally does work only as long as the romance is kept alive and other things like paying bills on time, not runnin' around, and not getting drunk and doing the things like what Louisiana lawyers do:-)

Kind Regards,
BrianD

During my 24 years in law enforcement, I carried every day I was off duty. It was a variety of guns throughout the years, but the 43X with Shield mags is really hard to beat.

I retired nineteen months ago and have almost exclusively carried a 1911 government. Some will argue it's too heavy, but it feels like walking around naked compared to the twenty-five-pound uniform I wore thirteen hours a day.

I guess I am what you would call , Fat Old and Lazy . My everyday run around gun is a Colt Mustang pocketlite . Easy to slip in a pocket or put in a holster on the belt . In some peoples eyes it aint much ,but its definitly better than telling someone , dont dont dont . lol . It amazes me the amount of people that have seen my gun say , where the hell did you find a little 1911 ?

It might be interesting to find out how many folks who have "carry" guns and permits DO actually carry everyday. Like a poll - gee - we must have done this before!

I USED to have all kinds of handguns, now that I am a geezer I have gotten rid of almost all of them and now have just two .38 revolvers. A big one, a Model 15 that holds six rounds and a 642 that holds five rounds which I do carry everyday.

It's a habit formed over many years. I'm just worried about how to sneak it into the assisted living home when the time comes!!

Quote from the OP
"From my experience, certain women are *far* more likely to be no-joke, daily pistol carriers. They made the decision years ago to stick that .38 in their purse, the purse goes everywhere they go, and so they are armed all the time. But they could not tell you the type of ammo in the gun or the trigger weight."

Purse Carry???? No way. Very few women do that. Lose your purse and your gun at the same time, no thanks. Belly band is probably the most common method carry for women.

I’ve conceal carried for 38 years and pretty much the only exceptions to daily carry have been work hours for three years on a non sworn law enforcement federal job in DC, and vacations over seas.

I started conceal carrying a full size 1911, evolved to a Hi Power, went back to an officer framed sized 1911.

Then I diversified to a wider range of hand guns including 2 1/2” and 3” Model 13, Model 66, 686+, SP101 and K6R revolvers, as well as a CZ 75 Compact and CZ 75 Compact PCR, with occasional a carry of a Beretta 92 Compact and a few different lightweight commander sized 1911s.

Lately I’ve found a Taurus 856 Executive (after the poorly designed grips were replaced) to be a near ideal revolver when .38+P is adequate and I don’t have a need for .357 Mag. I’ve also found the Girsan MPC35 compact sized Hi Power to be a superb concealed carry handgun.

The irony of course is that neither of those latter guns are what you’d call upscale or expensive. But they have both proven to have good combat accuracy and are very reliable.

I also have a Beretta 80X and a Kimber Micro 9 that I carry when smaller handguns are required for better concealment. I actually have two of the Micro 9s but much prefer to carry the newer one with the rubber grips and the mini compensator as it’s much more controllable at speed resulting in much faster doubt taps and failure stop drills.

—-

The common denominators, and for me the defining requirements for concealed carry, are that all of the above are small enough to readily conceal, and are also large enough to shoot effectively - both accurately and at speed.

I do have a few small handguns including a Kimber Micro, Beretta Tomcat, Beretta Bobcat, a couple older Beretta 950 series pistols, that I will carry when nothing larger will do, and or as a backup. But again they are also well balanced in terms of size and shootability with their smaller cartridges.

If you can’t shoot it fast and accurately, or it recoils so much you won’t shoot it often enough to remain proficient with it, it’s a poor choice for every day concealed carry.

Similarly, if it is so large and uncomfortable that you won’t carry it from the time you get dressed until the time you go to bed, it’s a poor choice for concealed carry.

Everyday, I’ve tried several different ones
over the decades…I am now back where
I started half a century ago.

An N frame Smith and or a 1911 of some sort.

I retired in 2015 after 40+ years in law enforcement. I can't unsee what I've seen, so I carry every day. Actually, I'd rather not have to, but daily carry became an integral part of my life long ago, along with all the other baggage LEO's carry around....some visible, some not.

As you can imagine, the journey began with a K-frame model 19 and a J-frame model 36. I still have them. After being dragged kicking and screaming into the world of plastics just before the turn of the century, I was forced to carry a Glock at work. There I said it, "Glock". Still have three of them. They will never see the light of day again.

"Now", or "post retirement", I have reluctantly transitioned over to a Shield Plus in 9mm. It fits my hand and I still shoot it fairly well. Sometimes, my "shoots around corners" model 442 goes along, mostly because it weighs in at about 13 ounces. Around the house I carry a Ruger LCP Max. All I can say is, I'm very happy I was trained in 1974 to shoot instinctively.....I can no longer focus clearly on the front sight or the intended target, even with correction. Fortunately, there is a beautiful indoor range near my home, and still some money available for ammunition.

Thankfully, at age 72, I'm not on any medication, and I can still pick up a screwdriver.

They told me these days would come but I didn't want to believe them.

I'm curious how you managed to carry in your non-work hours. When I lived in that area, getting a carry license required you to have high political connections or "a valid and substantial reason" and self defense was not considered "valid."

Ive carried everyday since my late teens. Same two guns always unless I'm home and want to play with something else or go lighter . Beretta PX4 Compact 9mm with at least 1 spare mag and a Ruger LCP Custom in a pocket holster . Just as important, I carry a IFAK in my back pocket that has a TQ and homeostatic gauze. Exception is a medical condition or injury , then I change things up if needed.

I gotta laugh at your post. Neither of those pistols were made when I was a teen, or in my twenties, thirties, fourties, early fifties.

On the other hand, I didn’t start daily carrying until my 50’s.

FWIW, all I can make of your post is that you are one the more "mature" members of the CCW club - but you have actually only been carrying daily for less than 20 years?

The PX4 hit the market in 2004 - 20 years ago. So if it wasn't available when you started daily CCW "in your 50's" then the math says that you are now in your 70's and have been carrying daily for less than 20 years?

Am I reading you right? No issues with any of that - just trying to clarify exactly what you were trying to say...

I lived across the river in Arlington. By law they have to issue a concealed carry permit in 45 days. I had to go in and call them on that point, but soon as I mentioned lawyering up they magically produced the permit.

I thought this thread was pretty lame. But it's still going so...

I've carried daily for over 40 years. My original backup/off duty was a model 60. The 60 has always been around (still is) although I loaned it to my father for a good number of years.

Then a PPKS, Then 669 OD with an AMT Backup as backup. (the PPKS got traded for a DL450 setup) I stuck with the 669 many years but not the AMT.

I eventually supplemented the 669 with a P-32 for the pocket but replaced it with a P3AT when they came out. I then went to a G23 for OD. The 669 became my patrol car backup during this time.

I later supplemented with a PF9 for times when the fat 669 and G23 were inconvenient. The P3AT is just for walks now that I'm retired.

The PF9 was used extensively for motorcycle trips. It's so thin it fits very well in a jacket vest pocket. Mine has been very reliable.

Since then I've carried a Taurus G2 Millinium 9mm (It was too cheap after rebate) in place of the 669 and G23 at times. Mine has been very reliable. The PF9 was switched out with a S.A. XDs in 45 ACP. Also pretty thin. It shoots well but has limited capacity.

I also carried a Shield 9mm v1 for a fair time. It was also too cheap to pass on with rebate. It's a fair gun for what it is.

A couple of officers size 1911s have served well at times. I also have one in .40. Other than capacity I really like the officers model 1911s a lot. They seem hard to shoot badly. I find the recoil very tollerable.

My current most used is a Hellcat with RDS. I like it. The Hellcat is amazingly small and light for the capacity. It's plenty accurate. But I also carry a G19MOS w RDS at times.

Yes I carry every day. I don't carry inside the house but something isn't far. I still use a J frame for woods work with snake shot. If I'm going for a walk in minimal clothing a 380 goes along. Otherwise my minimal carry is 9mm and 90% of the time it's AISWB.
I even carry my 69 at times but thin semi-autos just carry easier and with easy flat reloads. That little Hellcat sure is easy to carry comfortably.

For me it's 9mm, .40 (44 on occasion) or .45 every day and with very few exceptions every time I'm out.

It might surprise you but if still on Road Patrol I'd still feel fine with my wheel gun. I would be using my 4X speedloader pouch. My 669 would still be my patrol car gun and a 380 would be in my pocket. I've been retired for about 12 years.

I missed the PX4 intro by about a decade. I’m 62 and live in MD near DC. MD, until Bruen, was all but a “will not issue” state.

Carried at my hunt clubs in MD for a long time before Bruen (which was and remains legal without a permit) and, got a VA concealed carry permit and concealed carried almost daily there, with the pita of having to arm/disarm halfway to/from work as I approached the American Legion Bridge over the Potomac River. It wasn’t until shortly after Bruen that I could get a MD permit and truly carry all day every day.

Fwiw, I usually conceal carry a P365X these days, though I open carry a variety of guns at work at a gun shop and range.
