Really interesting opinions from "The Gun Guys-Ken Hackathon and Bill Wilson". Defensive guns
would really like to hear your opinions.

I had the good fortune to take a “advanced pistol” class from Ken Hackathorn a few years ago, and it was probably the most useful firearms training I’ve ever received.

What I can tell you is that Ken’s opinions are formed from decades of study and practice. This isn’t to say that I agree with everything he says (like many of us older types, he can be a bit hidebound at times), but I do know that I should at least listen to his reasoning before making up my mind.

Along the lines of what’s stated above, there are a lot of folks worth listening too, a lot that are worth listening too, but also are not relevant to what you might need or your situation, and some that just are not worth listening to at all.

Over time your own personal experience and observations, a little logic and common sense and an over arching philosophy about your shooting and or self defense needs will help you better sort and qualify what you hear from “experts” and “authorities”.

Never forget that critical thinking process is vital.

What works for a practical pistol competitor, isn’t necessarily ideal for a law enforcement officer, and what’s ideal for either of those might not be optimum for an armed citizen.

From that perspective, I have a much higher regard for presenters who qualify their statements and discuss the pros, cons and caveats than I do for folks who claim their was is always the best way or only way to do something.
