Default My custom 637-2 EDC

Over the course of a few years I’ve been evolving my carry gun - a 637-2. Briefly went to a 442 and Colt Cobra but always came back to the 637.

Got it from my FFL for $400 out the door 2 years ago. Someone got it as a brand new replacement for a cracked barrel 642 and didn’t want it so got it used but unfired. It had the smoothest trigger of a j frame from the factory.

Tried stock grips then Pachmayr then back to service grips with adapters.

Added orange paint to front sight to help on the range

Last year gambled that a 642 hammer would be an easy swap since MIM parts. Yep $28 bucks off the Bay sight it popped right in
Now 150 or so rounds later no failures to fire

Always been a pocket carry person but it was annoying carrying keys and phone in left pocket and the fact that I could not draw when seated had me look at holsters

Well with a little bit of fluff around the mid section every IWB from leather to kydex to nylon just rode too high and always dug into me.

Then I posted here about Barami hip grips hoping this would sit the revolver much lower and not pinch so much. Found a new set for $14 and recently added them

I have found the perfect carry gun for me
The bobbed hammer means no snag on the draw
It rides low enough not to pinch or cause discomfort
Stainless so helps resist rust
I’ve been practicing my draw and it’s not bad
I can swap it to my pocket if need be

Some photos

Interesting fact you can cock the 642 for single action fire which make no sense to me on a hammer you’d never see. But it works. Not something I’d ever do
I always practice DAO.

Two years and various grips plus holsters plus guns and I’ve settled on EDC

Until something else attracts my eye I guess
