You are NOT an ordinary person - you live in NJ. Of course, I am not, either, living in MA. We both have our stories, and our reasons, but we are NOT ordinary persons.

When I open my wallet you will not see my pistol license.

There’s a reason for that.

Whether armed or not it helps to keep people guessing.

“Hey there’s an old guy. I wonder if he can defend himself? Oh, he just looked at me. Maybe I should pick on someone else”.

Situational awareness and keeping people guessing works to your advantage. They don’t need to know anything more about you.

I have used my CWP to cash a check at my bank, by mistake. No problem then, they have a photo of my DL in their computer. I didn't notice until the "torpedo" returned. Now a days "Real ID" is required and only my DL is. Joe

I went to buy beer at my local grocery store a couple of years back, but the clerk refused to accept my driver's license because it had a small crack on the edge. I'm also CLEARLY over the age of 21 with grey down to my nose hairs and eyebrows.

Anyway, that was the one and only time I ever used my one of my CCPs for identification purposes. It was my nonresident Utah permit as my state permit doesn't have a picture.

I had no idea that a crack in the plastic mattered...Then again I haven't bought booze in close to 50 years......Ben

Sometimes newly minted CCers can’t contain their excitement. I have seen it many times.

It was Friday and I asked her to mail it "overnight" to my motel in Arizona. the PO told her overnight service would get it there on Monday. Instead, she paid FedEx $48 and it was at the desk when I checked in at 11PM that night.

Now the TSA expressly states it's not acceptable. Nonsense.
Ah the infamous TSA.-

I have also mentioned this before but it needs repeating.

Wife and I going on a trip, I had a copy of Guns& Ammo magazine. It was in the screened in pocket on the front of my carry on. You could see what was there as it was behind a piece of movable mesh. I grabbed it as I left the house to have something to read during the flight!

Yep just that magazine got me the full deluxe treatment but finely we got on board. A good chance that put me on a couple more terrorists lists. As a long time NRA life member its conceivable they have a decent dossier on me!

Note we did fly many times after that with no problems, but got to wonder just how dangerous a legal monthly periodical sold all over can be.

My wife and I were traveling last fall and TSA kept scanning my driver’s license and couldn’t get it to scan. The TSA agent looked at the picture and said, “Yep, that’s you” and let me through security. I was putting the license in my wallet and realized that I had accidentally given her my concealed carry permit which looks a lot like an Idaho D. L. CCW permit as form of photo ID

Several years ago I went to renew my driver's license at the DMV. The counter lady told me that she could not accept my current driver's license as photo ID. The fact that the DMV wouldn't accept the driver's license they issued me raises its own set of questions but the lady told me that she would accept an MMJ card or a Concealed Handgun Permit as ID.

So I gave her the permit as my ID and she started asking me questions about my permit. The DMV is not posted in Colorado. I did not explicitly tell her that I was carrying a gun I did tell her that I never left my home unarmed.

Once the application was done she needed to take my photograph for the driver's license. For some reason I had to take my jacket off before she could take my picture. I told her I couldn't because the building was posted against Open Carry.

I watched her eyes get big and she asked me if I was carrying a gun right then. I had just told this woman that I never left my home unarmed and she didn't get it. She told me to take my jacket off and wrap it around my waist while she took my picture. Once she got past the initial shock it didn't seem to bother her.

That was the only time I've ever used my concealed handgun permit as an ID.

A lot of people have already dogpiled on the OP so I'm only going to say this. It's been my experience that when you go deliberately messing with people to get a reaction you usually get one and it's usually not the one you wanted.

I was the other way around. I got my driver's license at 14. Never got a draft card until I was 21 and already had two tours in RVN and four in the Corps.

Had a similar experience at O'Hare. The magazine was seen in my carry-on and the questions started. Nowadays, I just check a handgun or two and some ammo and pretty much get left alone. I also have-not flown since ... 2018, and that is even better.

Probably nobody.

Most likely, several million undocumented aliens have a U.S. photo ID.

I wonder how many of them have CCW permits with their photo and fingerprint on it?

How many here have and carry a CCW badge, or knows someone who does? Be honest…

Really?

Wherever you live?

About 45 states allow open carry ...that's pretty revealing. Less than 40 allow concealed carry.

New York is one of only 4 states that limits or prohibits open carry. And even in NY it's OK to open carry while hunting and fishing.

A corporate security manager at a large company whose name everyone would recognize asserted that an employee having a gun magazine lying on her desk or photographs of her with guns on her desk was an open threat to all other employees. "Don't mess with me; I have guns."

He hated guns; it took years to change his attitude. To my surprise, he moved from the city and eventually got a concealed carry permit.

Several years ago, an Illinois appellate court ruled that seeing an FOID card in the driver's wallet on a traffic stop gave the police probable cause to search the car for guns.

Of course, the case came to the court because the man did have a gun in his car that was illegal in the jurisdiction --- Cook County.

For what purpose? Having a CCW gives you no authority. Is flashing a badge supposed to mean something? Could get you in trouble for "impersonating a police officer".

the grocery store wouldn't take my CCW Permit to buy beer....I would assume airport security would be a "little" stricter... especially in NYC..

The requirements for a Weapons permit is much greater than any drivers license. It should be even more accepted. It is a government issued ID, that is usually what is requested anyway. But as they say, don't poke the bear.

There is this fellow I know that works at a pawn shop. He isn't LE. Saw him in Kroger one day walking with a friend, both dressed up like swat, had gun on hip with spare mags, BDU style pants and the works. At first glance I thought they were LEO then realized who he was, just shook my head.

There is this fellow I know that works at a pawn shop. He isn't LE. Saw him in Kroger one day walking with a friend, both dressed up like swat, had gun on hip with spare mags, BDU style pants and the works. At first glance I thought they were LEO then realized who he was, just shook my head.

Rosewood
Lots of Wanna-Be's out there. About 99% will pee themselves when they get shot at or maybe do Number 2.........

No. Something like this says a whole lot about the carrier, and none of it good...

I'm not recommending going to NYC or using your CCW for ID while there. However I've used my Ohio CCL for voting ID and once as photo ID to take my ISO ISO 1400 Auditor exam. Unlike Ivans Ohio CCL mine does not say it cannot be used for ID purposes. I have the free CCL that Ohio gives veterans, maybe that is the difference.
