Best pants and shorts

After reading a note in this forum on the same subject I decided to buy a number of different pairs suggested in the note.

The Cabela's jeans and Columbia cargo pants have a much deeper front hip pocket than anything else mentioned.

No other jeans I have worn or at least checked out in a store are close. This includes those 'union made American' jeans someone posted about here (nice but a shallow pocket) or wranglers from Walmart.

The Carhartt's I tried from the old note also have shallow pockets. The cargo pockets are great, and yes you can pocket carry there but it seems awkward to draw, or to be prepared from such a low pocket.

I also have a pair of North Face hiking pants with the removable legs which have deep pockets but they have that artifical feel and noise to them.

I will try to find that older note and my Cabela's receipt for the pants order.

I can't find the old thread but I found my receipt. My preferences are the Columbia Lander and Cebela's Denim Cargo Pant.

LA Police Gear, has a new model of 511 Tactical pants and shorts coming out this spring called Covert Tactical "Tactical with out the look".

I obviously haven't tried them yet but have been interested in the regular 511 pants but as has been mentioned in this thread, don't want to look too obvious. these seem to address that issue

WallyWorld, Levi's Loose Fit Jeans, blue or black, long or short pants..The same jeans at Sear's is much higher....

Just picked up my ccw permit this week.

I went to the Goodwill store and got two pair of almost new cargo pants for six bucks, one pair 2 inchs larger waist for iwb carry.

At those prices you can experiment with what works.
