Default Ruger Pistols

I was considering getting a 9mm Sigma, but the Rugers are only around $310.

Does anyone have experience on the P95? I'm just wondering how they can make a full size pistol so cheap.

I have a p97 that I purchased for 320.00 a very few years ago and love it. It is built very well and I like the feel of it. Here is a review of it if you are interested. Ruger's New .45 ACP Polymer Auto Pistol - 5,000-Round Gun Test

While I think most of them are Ugly, overly large and bulky, my son-in law has a P85, and the trigger is amazingly smooth and the gun is very accurate. I actually enjoyed shooting it. The ultimate take anywhere CCW piece is the LCP, and yes, I do have one of them. It is accurate, reliable and lightweight.

I have a P-85 that used to be the personal weapon of a gunsmith. I don't know if he slicked it up or not, but it shoots well. I think it would also double as a hammer in a SHTF situation.

I have always thought the Ruger semi autos were clunky crude looking things and I dont own any of thier semi auto's, but as with all of Rugers products they work very well and are a good bang for the buck! I do however, own a bunch of thier single actions and a few Security Six's and are pleased as punch with them.

I'm about to purchase a 9mm pistol as a gift for my son that is graduating from LSU.

I want a new SD pistol and my budget is right around $300. My two top choices are the Ruger P95 and a Sigma.

Although I own neither, I have friends that own both and I have some experience with both. All things considered, I'm going with the Ruger.

Their P90 is a blast to shoot and quite accurate for a 45acp service type pistol. I plan to add one to my personal collection.

Great minds think alike. I gave my son a stainless 92F when he graduated from LSU (actually he came home and took it )). Every college grad needs a 9mm

When the Sigma went above the $299. mark at retail the first of the year, my dealer said it has been hard to sell them for two reasons:

There are other great guns that fit that price point,
and for now, $299 seems to be the "magic" number of the amount folks will part with without much thought for an instant sale.

I shot a friends P95 the other day for the first time. Keep in mind, I like Ruger revolvers, but I'm not fond of their auto's. Anyway, the P95 had a very good feel (for me) and was surprisingly accurate from 20-50 feet. BUT! The trigger pull was longgggggg and I HATE the mag release. I'd classify it as a nice "truck" gun. Load it, throw it under the seat of your truck and when you're near a range, shoot it up and toss it back in your truck. It's a heavy duty auto.

I was in a dealer the other day, and he had just got in 15 P95s. The blue were $295 and the stainless were $315, I think. I think that's a bargain, and they're not all square,DAO squirt pistols.

Ruger P95 is a rugged pistol. It is just enough larger in all dimensions and weight, than a Glock 19, that it rules it out as a carry gun for me. I don't care for traditional DAO. As house or truck gun the Ruger is a good option.

A P95 was my first 9mm and while I don't shoot it much anymore now that I have a few Smiths, it is an incredibly reliable and durable weapon. The trigger was not so great at first but smoothed out nicely after a couple thousand rounds.

My brother has a P89 and it is still quite accurate and shoots flawessly. This despite the fact that about 15 years ago the idiot left it sitting on top of his car, whereupon it blew off on a bridge at about 50 mph, bounced along the road for 40 yards, then got run over by a fully loaded dump truck. He was going to send it in to Ruger, but just kept shooting it, being only a little scuffed up and nothing apparently bent.

Ruger tough, indeed.

I've had my P95DC for 13 years now and have never had a problem with it. It is accurate enough and has functioned flawlessly through about 10,000 rounds. I also have a S&W M&P .38 special built in 1946. Of course the single action trigger on the S&W is better, but there is nothing wrong with the Ruger.

My P97 is my night stand gun. It is accurate and works every time. I would not hesitate to depend on a Ruger auto pistol in a self defense roll after giving it a decent test period. After 5K from my P97 witout a gun related failure I think it's reliable enough.

I had a P-89. Double action pull had to be over 20 lbs. 4 1/2" groups @ 25 yards were my best ever and hard to find. 2nd happiest day of ownership was the day I bought it, 1st was the day I sold it. It was replaced with a CZ.

I've got a P95 and a P97. After I "fixed" both of them...they have worked like a charm.

Like some of Ruger's recent "P" pistols, they just didn't have them debugged when the hit the market...but they work great now. Good value.

I appreciate Ruger revolvers and the Mark II .22 LR I own.

I, as others have posted, am not a big fan of the Ruger semi autos, but know several folks, whose opinion I respect, regard the semi autos highly.

We had several in property and evidence as confiscated firearms and several of our officers carried them as back ups or off duty sidearms.

I'm a Ruger ADDICT!! (I know... I'm workin on it)
I collect #1's #3's M77 Flat Bolts and even own quite a few rare single and double action revolvers. I LOVE all of them!
Some of the highest quality firearms I've owned in over 30 years as an FFL Dealer and Collector of EVERYTHING worthwhile!
Lots of these guns are fast becoming the BEST collectible investment you can make in today's market.
HOWEVER...****ger P-series Pistols......ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS!! (and that's putting it mildly) THE WORST SEMI-AUTO Pistol I've ever shot.
20 lb trigger pull...believe it!! Accuracy is HORRIBLE!!
Buy whatever else....it'll be better than any P-series!

Default ruger center fire autos are ...

decent guns with decent prices.
i prefer my glock model 19 2nd gen 9mm over my sons p94 9mm ruger.

that being said, the p94 is easy to shoot and has the most revolver like trigger i have used on an auto.
if you shoot the ruger 1st , then the glock , well the difference is apparent .

the ruger is not super accurate and IS pretty chunky.....would bee hard to carry for me, but is value priced and is a sturdy , reliable weapon.

My p97 doesn't feel chunky, I agree some of the p series pistols probably do feel and look that way. I have handled my nephews blocky glock 21, and I prefer the feel of my 97 to it. The slide on my ruger is tapered along the top, the glock wide and squareish, so I'll never regret my purchase.

I'm late to the ebr dance so I snagged this Ruger pc4 .40s&w carbine police turn-in last week. $400

They use the same mags as the p94s so last night I bought a $205 mag and got a free gun.

Ruger has some excellent products, the 10/22, 77/22. MK I/MK II, #1, etc; I would not put their semi-auto centerfire pistols in the excellent products category. Just my two cents.

I gave my son a pristine Model 15 and a box of Corbon DPX when he graduated from law school. While he is definitely not pro-gun he requested a handgun since he lives in a hurricane and subsequent looting prone city. The only time he goes to the range is when I visit him and talk him into going. Maybe I wasn't the perfect parent but I am making up for it now.
