I've been carring my stainless PPK as my primary BUG and Sunday-go-to-meeting gun since the early 90's when I traded a *** .380 Bursa and 175.00 for it used. Ran I don't know how many rounds through it. I've replaced the recoil spring and the safety when it broken in two. Had to have the feed ramp polished to feed hollow points. Even though it's stainless and .380 I have to admit I feel like James Bond when I carry it.

I'm glad to see this thread come back to life. I like these little guns.

I recently picked up a Model PP in 7.65 dated 1964. A Hamburg, Germany police turn-in. It came with both magazines and the holster.

I sent it off to be completely gone through - wife just got her CCW Permit and will use this as her 'carry'.

Got two, both S&W made guns. Surprized at how accurate they are. Had trouble with one, it had a very severely chattered chamber and would not extract. The brass stuck to the inside of the rough chamber. Eventually the extractor and all the little parts related to it flew out of the gun at the range one day and it had to go back to S&W. They fixed it and I am back in love again. Altamont used to make some beautiful red colored "Rosewood" grips with the Walther banner and oak leaves laser etched into them...too bad they quit.

Kinda wish this thread had stayed dormant; now I've decided I want a PPK too!

I hear ya! Me too....
It would seem that a shoulder holster and a tux would be in order though and I don't have a tuxedo

We have a stainless in the store, we also have the 380 Beretta. The Beretta seems to be better finished, but big for a 380. Both have that look..A young man came into shop and was pushing the PP/K on a elderly woman. He was knowledgeable but way out for who he was trying to influence.Point being the decocker function was hard for her to understand..He kept telling her what he KNEW because he was or had been a Green Beria on so he said..I didn't want to rain on his parade but told the couple to think about it and come back.(Not good sales technique) but I didn't feel she even understood that after first shot the pistol would be cocked, and she liked to fainted when I used the decocker to drop the hammer. This was not the pistol for her. At least I didn't feel right about selling it to her........I liked the pistol but I grew up with the SW 39 and understood the function and have been shooting for over 50 years..Still get qweezy about dropping the hammer on single/double actions..
god save us from some sales helpers no matter what area of expertise they have.....I have not known many special ops people having been just a common Marine but sometimes I hear all these stories and wonder...Just venting........I would love a blued older PP/K in 380. The Beretta did have a much smoother double action and better finish than the SS PP/K What do you guys think?????

I shot the local Sheriff's off duty/backup handgun qualification course yesterday with a Smith/Walther PPK. It's 25 rounds and pretty easy, but the PPK did just fine and I had no problem at all qualifying at 100% with it. One of the deputies carries two PPK/S's as backups, one under each arm. I may be the only guy in America that has a Smith PPK that he likes, but this one has been absolutely flawless for several years and it was again yesterday. I would like to pick up a nice blued German gun sometime, but I certainly have no problems with the one I have. Neat little guns!

Many of us have safe queens and using guns....my Interarms PPKS in .380 is one of my users. I bought this gun in the mid-80's and it has served as my daily carry at one time and as a bug. It is one of the few stainless guns I have ( I like blued guns mostly) and because it is stainless and easy to carry I now use it mainly in the hot months as my carry gun in my "fanny pack" ( I know that many folks frown on fanny packs... but I don't give a rats behind, I like 'em and use them) when I ride my bike or just knock around town in my t-shirt and shorts. The PPKS and my .380 Kel-Tec are the 2 guns I'm most likely to carry on any given day.

Suffice it to say I am a fan of the .380 PPKS.

I read an article written by a German that said that in their police service, the PP-series guns averaged one jam per 50 rounds.

I believe that's one of several reasons why they upgraded to 9mm's from 1975-on. The PP guns were all 7.65's, I think.

The 7.65mm is a semi-rimmed case, and rim dimensions vary with brands. If your gun doesn't work with one brand, try another. I suspect that Geco is the closest to what Walther designed the gun to use.

Yes, I know that there are other 7.65mm cartridges. But you know the one involved here.

My girlfriend has expressed an interest in shooting lately, and I've been letting her shoot my .22 Henry lever carbine, and my Model 63. She loves both of them. I've also let her shoot my snubby Model 10 and a Ruger LC9 I used to have, plus a 3953 DAO S&W I used to have as well. She thought all of them kicked too much for her. My thinking now is maybe a Walther or Beretta 84 or 85 series in .380 as a good centerfire for her to learn on. Damn good excuse to get a PPK or variant, or a Beretta at any rate, huh? I'm kinda out of options as far as a centerfire weapon for her at this point.

I've a Manhurin ppk in 32 acp. And heard about its reputation as a hand bited. Well after close to 300 rds of various brands it didn't bite the haqnd that fed it and showed supirising accuracy. Frank

Default hand biter?

I had (and regret sellling) a pre-war Walther PP .32 acp. I let one of the Federal Protective Service uniformed officers (guarding the federal building) back in about 1981 shoot it at the range one day. First words of caution - keep your thumb down - didn't work. He got by without stitches but that old Winchester Silvertip ammo was pretty hot back then. Oh yes, dummy that he was, after bandaging his thumb he wanted to try it again....keep your thumb down dummy...nope, he didn't, second cut, 1 stitch!!!!

I own two and carry one. The one I carry is an Interarms. It replaced an old snubby in the early 70's and I carried it almost exclusively until I retired.
It took about a 1000 rounds before it learned to digest HP's.
Blessings
