222 Remington MAGNUM! Oh My!!
Man what a scorcher!!
Friend has one that was passed down to him. Rem model 700.
He finally got a hold of some brass and worked up some loads.
How does a 40gr bullet at 3600 FPS sound!
Wish we could have shot it a little more.

Depending on the details of powder, primers, brass and bullet you should get around 3800 to 4000 fps with 222 mag. Factory Win. (Product USA2232) 45 grain 223 gets 3600. With weighed charges of Varget Nosler Ballistic Tips he'll get there easily. If the gun bore is still in good shape vert accurately too. Ivan

I still have my SAKO Vixen,.222 Rem Mag., from 1967 (bought it at Nagel's in San Antonio).
Absolutely splendid trigger, accurate with any Ballistic Tip. I dallied with 40 grs. at 3800, but went back to a 55 gr. BT about 3350 fps. 4895 powder fuels it well.
Several small deer have fallen to it, one shot kills at moderate range.
I may have it buried with me............
It wore an ancient 7.5 X fixed power Leupold, for decades, but I lately replaced it with a EFR 3X9 AO Leupold. It suits it better.

I had a Winchester model 770 that originally a 222 Rem rechambered to 222 magnum. Most accurate rifle that I have ever owned and I currently have a 40X in 223. I didn't realize what i had at the time and traded it off . I would think you can push the 40 grain faster my #1 in 218 Bee shoots the 35 V-Max at 3400 + with Lil Gun.

He needs a better scope. We had a two inch group at 100 yards. I don't reload and I don't know what powder he used.
