King Cobra 22

How do these group at 25 yards with a good ammo? They have to be more accurate than the older Diamonndback 22s. I had two of these for many years and they were the least accurate of all my Colt and S&W .22 revolvers.

Nice looking gun, how's the trigger is it like the python where the hammer goes back before it falls ? How many pounds is it if you know ?

Colt has very short production runs of the KC .22lr. They pulled it from their website at the end of last year. My dealer's main distributor hasn't received a single one in months. Can't wait until I can get one.

I just picked a near new 1977 4” 22 Diamondback and it’s equal or better than my 617 which is pretty accurate. I have several Smith 22’s including a 1955 K22 and it’s no more accurate than my colt.

I’m curious about the new King Cobra too. I have no doubt it’s a great revolver but my itch was scratched with the Diamondback.

Colt stopped production of the King Cobra .22 due to re-engineering it for some reason…don’t know the cause. From what I’ve been told the issue was very minor but showed up in some revolvers. Most…like mine…have proved perfectly serviceable. Again…what the issue was has not been announced and are being produced again and being sent to distributors.

I’m waiting to get a 6” KC when I can find one to go along with my 4.25” example.

If you have a Diamondback .22 that's truly accurate, you're fortunate to have an exceptional revolver. Most owners mention passable accuracy at best.

The Diamondback was little more than a Police Positive with a Pythonesque barrel and adjustable sights. It’s a fine revolver but if you wanted a true target revolver you bought an Officers Model Match on the E-frame.

I don't often use after-market stocks on handguns, but The Diamondback has the most ill-fitting grip frame of any revolver I'm aware of. Perhaps custon stocks would make a difference.

As for accuracy, my two Officer Model Match revolvers and a couple of Trooper .22s (the original version) are far more accurate than either Diamondback I owned. They cost much less, too.

The Diamondback…being a snake gun…goes for a premium. Even though they’re not rare, they did have a fairly short production comparatively.

On my Colt D-frames…at least those I shoot…I use Pachmayrs…either the Presentation or the Compacs.
