Diamondback 380
I saw one of these at a gunshop over the weekend. Made in USA, Florida to be specific. Looks like a well made piece, and the price is right. Not that I need another gun of any kind, but there's money trying to get out of my pocket. Any feedback would be helpful, thanks.

I first saw them at a local place here in houston. Alot of the initial ones had feeding problems and a bunch of used ones showed up on consignment. Per the shop owner, the factory has fixed this.
That's all I have heard. They look good and have the Glock style takedown.

I have been looking at them for a couple of years. I heard about the FTF, FTE problems with them so I waited for the company to work the bugs out. Last year there were three of them at the gunshow, but I was afraid of getting one of the factorys first run,the one with all the problems. I went to the gunshow Sunday with cash in hand, but no one had any. Now i'm wondering why no one is selling them. It,s a great looking gun and I want one for ccw.

I thought they where going to be the next greatest thing since sliced bread. The fit and finish are great, appeared to be well made and almost as if Glock had made them.
They are built across the State from me, by a guy that worked at Kel Tec and opened up his own shop.
Sooooo, I bought one from my local go to Gun Shop. It was gently used by a regular customer who buys guns new and brings them all back and buys something else, Crazy.
Anyway, I took it to the range and it was a piece of junk as I can not say what I really want to call it..
Fail to feed, fail to extract, fail to do just about anything. FMJ, HP different ammo didn't matter.
As I am a regular customer, I drove back to the shop handed him the gun, got my money back and bought something else. Let the dealer send it back, I wasn't going to hassle with it.
The Ruger LCP or even KT is far better and both have excellent customer service. Heck, I think the Taurus even gets better press.

I've had 2 different Tauri with a variety of issues chronic and unresolvable.
I won't be getting any more of any model at any price. YMMV.

I was interested in them this summer, my local gun pusher was talking them up (he had 5 in stock).
I researched them and learned about their problems. The decision was made when I read the factory stopped paying the freight on guns sent back for warranty work. $65 a pop every time I had to send it back for a product known to have problems.......That was a no brainer to go find another brand of gun.

Thanks folks, as I thought. Don't really need a 380, think I'll save my sheckles and see what no-lock guns Smith comes up with next.

Wise decision. I wrote to SW and they say the pro series #M640 and M632 (178044, 178046)as displayed in the 2010 catalog start production in 2 months. So I guess they really will be 201X models. No Locks and night sights.

Wise move. I got caught up in that .380 madness and have had a couple LCP's. Waste of money. The real Hebrew deli's around here get almost as much for a Reuben as a new 442.

The flatness of the little .380s is tempting, but I've stuck with .38s in alloy J-Frames and have never had a functioning issue with them.

I should not have been so down on the LCP. They do work well and probably fill the bill for a lot of owners. I don't worry about "printing" so I'll stick with revolvers. The little .380's are tough for me to get a grip on. I've tried rubber grips and grip extensions without much luck. I still have a BDA but that's a different catagorie.
