Mauser Compact DA 9mm.. What is it?
Google failed to turn up much but one picture.
Put money down on one of these today. No magazine (Kalifornistan ) and not in as nice a shape, but I didn't pay $1K for it either.
Anybody tell me about it? It looks like a DA/SA Hi Power.

IIRC, these were made by FEG in Hungary. However, at my age, I get overcome by CRS at times, so get some additional confirmation. If FEG, there may be some preban mags in CA that will fit.
Added: The model was the FEG P9R. Here'e a link:
http://world.guns****/handguns/hg/hu/feg-p9r-e.html
The site identifies it as being marketed by Mauser in Europe as the Mauser model 90DA.

I bought a P9R years ago from Century Arms Intl. A great gun: basically a DA Hi-Point for about $200! But, a crack developed in the lug under the chamber. I was able to get a new barrel, but it apparently needs to be finish-fit, so the gun is now sitting in my safe, on my list of things to have fixed once I find a really good gunsmith.

Any idea what sort of mag it is?
As i understand it they copied the DA from a S&W 5906. The SA mags are interchangeable (as far as I can find) with the Hi Power.
Not really sure about the DA.

Don't think the DA mags are interchangeable with HiPower. Hadn't heard it was a copy of the 5906. I believe my gun came with 3 mags. I knew a guy who ran a gun store, and when he was burglarized, they cleaned out all of the guns but left the boxes and magazines. So, I picked up 2 more "factory" mags, and got some cheapo 10 round mags when the whole mag-ban thing was in. I think I've seen them in the CDNN catalogue before, but I could be mistaken. Cheaper Than Dirt also sometimes has them.

SUCCESS!
Ordered up a ProMag (barf) for a FEG P9R/P9rK. Same gun, different name.
Went down to the shop & HEY! It fit, slide locked back. Sweet. Then they let me try a box of ammo through it. 50 rds without a single hiccup. Pretty accurate, too. A tad left but a decent group. SA trigger is heavy but clean.
I get it out of Kalifornistan pistol jail 3/20.
Factory ten rounders are available, but one must search. ProMag has discontinued the P9R mags so guess I'd better grab a few while I can.
