Chad, from a Model 8/81 collector, you did good, rifles such as that do not often come along and then normally not at a "good" price. It is always fun to find a treasure. All My Best, Joe.

NICE! Check out the site in my signature. It's dedicated to these guns. They'd love to have the info and pictures there.
Is that a 25 Rem? Even cooler!

Wow! I love my model 81 .300 savage. The weird combo of an Auto 5 style/military looking/ fat barrel rifle intrigued me and i had to have one. Your's is a treasure.

I love the Model 8/81 Remington rifles. You have a fine old rifle there. I'm glad it is in appreciative hands.

I am totally clueless as to the real value of this rifle.
Not asking what you paid for it. What would you estimate current market price to be.

Just took another look. That is some of the best ingraving I've ever seen. Ever. Tom mix had an engraved presentation Model 8. I wonder if it was as nice as yours. I'm looking for a pic. of the Mix gun but forgot which book it's in.

I don't really know, but I did find this. The example shown appears to be a lower grade with no engraving on the magazine.

I'm not sure they go back that far, but it seems to be BX. The serial number is listed as 1910, but the markings are Remington UMC which I believe is 1912 on. Here's some more pics.

Remington Model 8 engraved
That's a very nice model 8F. I'm a collector of engraved remington rifles and shotguns and would love to buy it any time you are looking to sell. In particular I like any engraved remington from before the 1970's. If you have any interest in selling one or just want some information please feel free to email me at [email protected].
Thanks,
Brian

I don't suppose that you have any Premier Grade M-870's or M-1100's that you could picture here? Any higher grades, even a nice Skeet Grade?
Maybe a M-742? Those long receivers do lend themselves well to engraving.
Thanks,
T-Star
