Wink Better Hi Point 9MM Carbine

I have a Hi Point carbine next to my M&P 15-22 in the gun rack and I think a little S&W rubbed off. Anyway, I thought I'd dress it up a little. Let me know what you think of the morph.

Default Tacticool

I'm not 'tacticool/semiauto anything' at all, but it looks pretty cool. I especially like the vertical foregrip. An ol' buddy of mine who spent some time in the sandbox said that such grips, in his opinion, helped his troops in accuracy quite a bit. Good job!

The whole family likes my 995TS, but I'm always amazed when people spend more on accessories than the rifle cost new. Don't get me wrong, if modifications make it more interesting or fun for you have at it. I've modified a bunch of firearms over the years, just in a different way.

I'm trying to figure out how to put a dust cover on mine. If you've ever seen any successful dust cover modifications please let me know.

Very nice, changed up the barrel, dropped the rail and added the flash suppressor. I like the scope mount set up too. I bought one after Christmas, what a fantastic gun. People that don't own one, don't know what they are missing.

Actually, there is very little cost in accessories. I took the front sight off and installed a flash hider. These come from Trueshottechnologies.com. I removed the bottom rail and epoxied it to the top of the hand guard. I purchased a front sight from UTG at Gunkings.com for 23 bucks. The carry handle and scope mount I borrowed from my M&P 15-22. I did order another lower rail, cost was nothing as it was a warranty part. Hi Point insisted on no charge. And the gun is a blast to shoot.

Good Ol' Hi Point, best warranty and customer service in the business. gun looks pretty good too, looks like it should be shooting laser beams instead of bullets though.

I went to the LGS a few months back to buy one, and I got the upturned nose, curl the upper lip, and the " we don't and won't sell that brand ". They immediately turned and walked away.

They can't keep them in stock around here. People shoot the snot out of them and the handguns. You are right about the CS they will fix repair anything. Local shop that sells them never has a complaint and I have seen them at the range so dirty and hot and still going.

Exactly all the reasons I went with cash in hand to buy one. Plus I fiqured if ever were faced with a very aggresive aligator, if I couldnt kill it, I could always prop open his jaws with the Hi-Point and run like heck

The hipoint handguns might be uber ugly but the carbine is getting sexier and sexier. I've been meaning to send mine in and have it updated to new stock. After that I'll put my 3-9x40 scope back on and keep on loving it. I carried it on duty regularly and had no problem relying on it for my life. In fact in the shooting I'm healing from I was trying to drag myself to the truck for my hipoint because my handgun was out of ammo.

Had me right up to the extra rails & vertical foregrip, but other than that, pretty neat.

Jeff Quinn has a great review on his website, Gunblast.com, you might like to print up a copy and give to those fine folks. The reason I purchased the 995 was one, I shoot 9mm and second, the reviews were great on this little carbine. Simply put, they are reasonably priced, shoot quite accurately and are fun to burn up ammo with.

Please explain, I don't quite understand your statement. I'd like to help you with further information if needed. Of course, this was my modification and there are many many out there. Thanks for your comment.

There are a couple threads in the Long Rifle - M&P 15-22 sub thread that deal with the dust covers for that gun. I'm sure they can be modified. Check them out, there are really good support videos and photo directions and support. Good luck.

Wow, that is almost exactly the response I got in one of my local gun shops.I won't go in there again, unless I have to or they get rid of the attitude and the clerk there. I went over the line and bought one, haven't looked back since..

I agree with everyone 100%, the reviews are EXCELLENT. When you hear it from both L.E.O., and the general public alike, the Hi-Point people must be doing something right. Even if you want to use one of thier pistols for a wheel chock, the Carbines seem to get great reviews across the board. 26

Hope you're making a good and speedy recovery Brandon, I know who was riding on your shoulder that day. I hope you make it back on the job someday soon.

Default Snubbed nose

Had an LGS do that to me when I inquired about the Hi-Point. Stuck their nose up in the air and insulted me for asking about it at the same time. Now, four months and over $5000 in weapons, accessories, ammunition and training later that shop has sold me nothing. It's too bad too, I had already selected two weapons I was going to purchase from them. In the grand scheme of things, it probably wouldn't in itself make a big dent in their bottom-line but, unlike the other local (and distant) shops I've dealt with since October, that I-90 shop out east of Seattle gets no referrals from me like the others. When I drive by their front door every two weeks, like clockwork, I snub my nose at??? 3 wild guesses.
