Default I bought a Kimber Pol ymer Gold Match .45 Cal

I just bought a Kimber Polymer Gold Match .45 Cal.

I didn't even know that Kimber made a "Plastic" gun.

Any one own one of these or can anyone give me any information on it?

I'm off to shoot it this afternoon.

I can tell you about my Kimber Ultra Ten II,
The aluminum frame on mine is made from low quality soft aluminum, which means I am only to use FMJ ammo, as hollowpoints will ruin the ramp

About 10 years ago (probably more the high cap ban was on) I bought a BUL M5 made in Israel. Bul made the polymer frame that you have for Kimber and their M5 model which was a carbon copy of the Kimber. Chip McCormick made slides and all the rest of the parts for both Kimber and Bul. My gun was a 4" double stack polymer frame gun. The big problem was the high cap mags for them were very pricey and only available from Kimber. The polymer mag release wore out with the steel mags,. The fix was a metal mag release from a Para Ord.. Once installed the Para release allowed the use of Para high cap mags which were much less expensive.

Thanks for your information - I've gotten very good input from different gun forums.

I think I've found out that BUL made the frames and Kimber supplied the tops.

I just got back from the range.

It shot like a Kimber - in other words - like a dream.

Absolutely not a failure of any kind in my 1st 100 shots.

I usually do not take pictures of my targets - but here are my 1st ten shots

that's from 21' and is probably as good as I can do.

The reason I do not usually take pictures is that I get worse the longer I shoot.

Looks like I've found a "keeper"

I like it.

I don't have a composite Kimber, but my 'plastic' Wilsons work fine for me.

I noticed that with my Kimber ( & STI also) trying different manufacturers ammo can pay off big in added accuracy. I tried some Fiocchi ammo for the first time & I was hooked on the vast improvement in accuracy I found

I called Kimber and found out the frame is made by BUL Israel and the rest of the gun by Kimber in house.

In 1994 the did get a lot of design help from Chip McCormick, but did not sub-contract any manufacturing to him.

My gun was made in made 10/24/2001.

They made this gun for about 8 to 9 years.

Charles Daly used to import Bul M-5 guns, the BUL guns seemed better designed, as on their hi-cap 1911's the ramp was part of the barrel, which meant the frame could still be made from low quality aluminum & yet the use of hollowpoint ammo would not hurt the gun
