Default The 1911 Birthday picture thread. (warning;28 photos)

Greetings lounge lizards. (May I say that?)
I spend little time in the lounge, but, this is the only forum I frequent.

So I wanted to share my 1911 collection with my S&W forum friends
and MAYBE, start a new 1911 picture thread.

My 1911 collection has evolved to mostly blued high quality
custom builds, with a few utility guns thrown in.

I'D love to see your 1911s' whatever the caliber, so please show em'.

Regards
Allen Frame

Ed Brown custom. Foster frame and slide. Kart barrel.

Colt National Match built 1979 by Steve Fisher

John Giles 38 wadcutter gun. 1979 Colt frame and 38 Special Kit top end.
Giles signature rib and front strap stippling again evident.

Fred Kart 6inch 22 conversion unit used in Natl Match competition
by Larry Jachrimo.

My 'modern' 1911, a Sigarms G.S.R. built in Exeter New Hampshire by Matt McClairn
and his crew. With ambi safety, hand checkered front strap, and action/reliability tuning.

My one, go-to 1911. The Kimber BP Ten II. 14 rounds of 45 acp. Ed Brown ambi safety and
slide release. Trigicon T.F.O. sights.

Those are some interesting .45s you have there. Thanks for the pics. My "younger days" .45s reflect a California influence, mainly owing to the good work I always got out of King's Gun Works. I bet that Giles .45 is a good shooter!

Nice stuff! I'm just now beginning to board the 1911 bandwagon.

It began innocently enough, when I found a good deal on a 70 series Colt Gold Cup. That got expensive to shoot, so I grabbed a GSG 1911 22 cheaper than I could find a conversion kit.

And just last week, I made a lowball offer on a Rock Island Commander, and the seller just couldn't refuse.

These aren't in the league with some already posted, but they all shoot great, and I'm sure they aren't the last. John Moses Browning was a genius, and probably inspired by a higher power.

Here's my birthday baby. Blued steel, no forward serrations, short guide rod, and walnut grips.

My Beloved SW 1911! I planned ahead and already had it paid for so the day my license to carry came in the mail I immediately went to my gun shop and brought this baby home It was NIB at the time, but that's 'cuz it was just waiting for me. Nicest semi-auto I've owned yet. I swear fate had something to do with me finding this exact S&W at the time. It is absolutely everything i wanted, no front serrations, original 1911 style guide-rod, no HUGE SW1911 letters down the slide, and high polish stainless!?!? ANNND sweet grips with S&W medallions!?!?! yesssss, it was love at first sight

and i'll wrap it up with the custom plug I bought from EGW,

I have had the pleasure of shooting a number of Allen_Frame's 1911s. They all shoot as good as they look. I have also had some success in shooting my newest 1911, the STI Trojan pictured above and seen in action in the below YouTube video.

My Series 70 Gold Cup, built by an IL "smith" by the name of Moses, back in the early 80's with a Kart match barrel as well as all the special fitting to make it shoot great.

The 80's vintage Springfield that I build myself, and which I shoot the most.

The RIA Compact (3 1/2" barrel) that shoots almost as good as my Springfield.

The moral of this thread is you can never own too many 1911's. More makes it all better.
