"Plinkers"...Lets see those Rimfire Rifles
Today seemed like a good one to clean some rifles.
I've been shooting rim-fire rifles a bit more frequently (can't beat the price of the ammunition!) so I pulled them out of the safe and took a few pictures. Hard to beat an overcast day for photography!
My heart has a warm spot for rimfires...
I'd sure enjoy seeing what you folks have tucked away!
Bob
From left to right...
Savage "Cub" (a late manufacture single-shot trainer with the Savage Accu-Trigger), Marlin Model 56 (magazine fed with an old Tasco scope - circa mid 1950s), Marlin Model 57 (magazine tube fed - circa mid 1950s), Browning Semi-Automatic (a late manufacture gun - Japanese made), Winchester Model 250 (circa late 1960s), Ruger Model 10/22 (circa 1974), Winchester Model 61 (circa Oct/Nov 1947), Marlin Model 39A - Mountie - (circa 1962), Marlin Model 39A (circa 1968), Winchester Model 9422 (circa 1975), Anschutz Model 64 L MP R with a Swift adjustable scope (circa 2003)

Thanks Mr. F....I do enjoy rim-fires.
canoeguy,
Thanks...it's the only one I own...I acquired it last year after many years of wishing. The lady who sold it to me was very nice and it was much nicer than I could have "lived with". It shoots great!!
irishjig,
Nice family! That J.C. Higgins is is the one I'd pick! Sweet!!
Thanks for sharing.

That's a nice bunch of really fun guns. I recently bought a used Interarms Gallery .22 for 200 bucks and found it to be the funnest and most accurate gun i bought in I don't know how long! Sometime you have to see the forrest past the trees and appreciate things you take for granted. That's what happened to me anyway.

Here is my model 52 Winchester, since you love Winchester 22's, it's not rimfire though. Early 50's production, my dad's ROTC and NRA competition rifle. Maybe it is rimfire, I never really noticed, I just buy long rifle ammo. If anyone knows, let me know. I don't have any ammo to look at currently, I don't shoot too often, actually it's been many years.

Winchester 250
Here's my Winchester 250 that my dad gave me back in 1963 when I was 12. My very first firearm and I still enjoy plinking with it.

It's not quite a plinker, but...
my Kimber 82G is dead nuts accurate. It will shoot .1" @ 50 yards. And yes, that is a 36x Weaver target scope. It absolutely loves Wolf Match Target ammo.

Some very nice .22s....By "plinker" I mean a rimfire, not a level of precision.
Great guns.

I'm a big fan of 22's. Althought here lately, I have been on a 38/357 kick.
1984 Ruger 77/22, 2006 Ruger 10/22 WWS, 1977 Ruger 10/22 DL, 1997 Ruger 10/22 DSP, 1995 Ruger 10/22 DSP, 1995 Ruger 10/22 Laminate stock, Remington 597, Stevens 46, 1982 Marlin 39A.
I've gotten rid of the 597. Nothing wrong with it, it was just sort of boring, and looked out of place with all the wood stocks.
So I replaced it with this one. I wanted one when I was a kid, but my mother was scared of rifles. Shotguns were ok, but no rifles.
Ithaca M-49 single shot (the magazine tube is fake). This one is just fun.
Handguns? Old picture but I've still got most of them. The Ruger MK III was traded off for something else.
Smith & Wesson 17, Ruger Bearcat, Bersa 22, Dan Wesson 22, Ruger Single-Six, 50 anniversary, Ruger MK II NRA endowment model, Ruger MK III, 22/45
A couple of Ruger three screws from 1958.
And a Colt Frontier Scout from 1967.
I still need a Model 18.

I love rimfires and especially old Winchesters. I may have an addiction.
Here is my 69/69A family, 69 dualsight, 69A grooved, 69A match target and 69A junior target shooters special.
62A and 61
Some single shots, Thumbtrigger, 1902, 1904, and a model 36 9mm rimfire shotgun.
A few 1906s and 1890s
Probably my favorite, a 63 factory scoped
My S&W rimfires, 617, K22 Masterpiece, model 18-2 and a 63.
I'm old and been doing this for a long, long time.

Well dang, I'm almost 'shamed to post my paltry little collection after seeing some of these great pictures of some mighty fine rimfires.
I do have a pair to draw to, though. I believe the 39A is from 1961 and the Mountie from '62. The longer rifle is the first gun I ever bought with my own money. I was one proud 12 year-old country boy back in '61 when I bought it with money I made selling boiled peanuts.
The Mountie was finish-challenged when I bought it, so I had it hard-chromed. I was reminded of this purchase reading the thread about gunshop etiquette. I stood in the background 15 minutes while a fellow traded this gun to my dealer. Immediately when the guy left with his new Ruger, I asked the shop owner what he would take. I got it for $145. That was 12 or so years back.
I have more .22s, including a fine Winchester 9422Magnum, but I just haven't made pictures.

You're making me feel bad
I am feeling deprived. I only have one 22 rimfire rifle (an old bolt action) and a couple of old 22 rimfire pistols
The rifle is a Kimber Mod 82 S-Series Supergrade circa 1981. The S-Series was the fore-runner of the SuperAmerica and there were only 535 made in .22 L.R.
The Mod 41 is a circa 1973 pistol with the cocking indicator
The K-22 is Circa 1952

I know this is S&W Forum but these pistols are my current 'plinkers'. 1940 Colt's Woodsman Sport Model and a Kimber conversion on my Colt's Mk lV .45 frame.
I don't have good pics of my rifles. I'll post them later.

Bob, I've got some old-timers for you.
Top two are Stevens Favorites then a Marksman. Bottom are all three variants of the Remington No.4 .22., Solid frame on bottom, lever takedown then the knob takedown.
The little bolt is a Belgian parlour .22.

It's a Marlin 795 with a customized model 60 stock. It's my imitation M1 Paratrooper Carbine.
And one of my favorite guns altogether, a Winchester 72a.

10/22 "Krink Plinker" SBR with SWR Warlock suppressor. Side folding triangle stock - it fits into a backpack when folded. I shoot it more than anything else in the safe It now wears a Weaver 1-3x.

chp,
Now that looks like fun! I'd have a suppressed Ruger Mk2 right now if it were not for the "open door policy" ATF has with you once you sign on the line.
I'd love an integrally suppressed Mk1 or Mk2.

Nice job on your 10/22. Just what exactly is left of the original? And why is it still a 10/22?

The receiver (underneath the faux Krink receiver), bolt, fire control group - that's all
$400 worth of stamp taxes but I'd do it again

Here's a couple of .17HMR's - love this little pill.
CZ452 Varmint & Savage 93R17-BV (laminate stock)
Now the .22's
Charles Daly (Zastava) Superior II - these are Serbian made and a real deal. I've already refinished the stock on the left one.
Custom 10/22 - no original Ruger parts left.
CZ452 Special

I grew up with this octogon barrel winchester 61 in .22 LR. Dad bought it in the late 1930s. He added the block of wood as he was a tall man.
I remember once he entered a neighborhood turkey shoot. I looked around and seen some guys with telescoped bolt rifles and exspressed my concern. Dad just said well, they still got to hold them. Dad won!

I am sure you are correct.
MW,
That is a beauty. I imagine finding ammo can be fun!
CH47,
Those are nice looking rifles. I've never picked up .17.....but there is always tomorrow!
feralmerril,

Muddyboot,
Nice looking Mossbergs! Very clean.
