I have seen a few Winchester "NRA Centennial" Muskets before, a commemorative Model 94 Winchester made in 1971 with a straight stock, steel curved buttplate, long range vernier sights, 30/30 caliber, 26" barrel and wood all the way to the muzzle. Passed on one at a gun shop a couple of years ago for $450, wished I had picked that one up....
I was at my Local Gun Shop today, and "Lo and Behold" what had they taken in trade, a Model 94 Centennial Musket! Priced at $499, 20% down put it on layaway for me. Like most commemoratives, it appears unfired, even had the box with it. I'll probably pick it up within a month or so.
I want it to be able to shoot cast lead bullets more effectively, to date I have only been able to get a good 50 yard cast lead 30/30 round developed, with that long range venier sight, I should be able to shoot cast lead out to 200 yards or more. The commemorative value means nothing to me, but that long barrel, musket wood and long range sight has a lot of value for me!
Anyone out there have and shoot a NRA Musket?
