Give these instructions a try. Just go slow and don't give up. It took me a while to get used to it but now it's simple. It's a whole lot easier than learning how to shoot a hand gun good. You might try copying the instructions so you can have them in front of you to follow. Good luck! Don

I carry an A. G. Russell 999 Physicians knife. It has two "blades". One is the usual pocket knife blade and the other is a paddle shaped pill counter. One end of the knife is squared off for crushing pills. It is a copy of a late 19th century/early 20th century knife that was very popular with family physicians that had to do everything.

I'm never without one. For the last several years I carry a Buck 303A 3 blade knife. I have a bunch of them but this size and shape I prefer.

I've carried a little Victorinox since the early 1960s. Lost one out of my pocket in a Huey in Vietnam; wife sent me another. I have a larger one that I carry in my gun show bag. A few years ago a French friend gave me a Laguiolle, complete with corkscrew: they're made one at a time in the Southeast part of France, up near the Swiss border. Now I have 4 of them. Not as many as he does, however; he uses them as table knives, and has some early ones with carbon steel blades. Now they're all stainless. One of these pictured seems to have handles of horn, the other of rosewood.

I always go around with one in my pouch bag. Here are a few that I have.
Conventional pocket knives...
...and what local folks carry.

I carry a Case Large Stockman most of the time and occasionally a Buck 301 large Stockman which is smaller and lighter than the Case and easier on the pocket.

I've gone a little "knife happy" in the last 18 months or so. I've bought 15 or so and now have a bunch of pocket knives. I just ordered a Sowbelly Trapper and a medium Gunstock from A.G. Russell today.

Recent acquisition. A S&W flip folder. I had never seen one in the original leather sheath, until I got this one. A little unique.

I just brought home yesterday a Craftsman brand clone of the Buck 110. I guess I am a nerd for 110 copies since it seems like I buy one of all of them I see as long as they are decent quality. Only now do I realize that I didn't check for the made in USA stamp... Crud... Will see when I get home. I feel a sudden disappointment coming soon...

As an update, I was very happy to see both the knife and sheath say Made in America. Well the blade is stamped USA at least. It isn't as high quality as the Buck 110 but it is still plenty good.

I had one of those. Nice knife. Gave it to my pal after a coupla years.
Pocket knives make great gifts. You can mess around with them for a while, then give 'em away to a good friend who you know will appreciate it, giving you an excuse to buy yet another one...

Onomea: Laguioles seem to differ only in the scale material. I have one made from horn, another rosewood and two with lighter colored woods, both very diffferent in grain.
Where did you get yours? I didn't think they were imported in the US.

The one I had -- gave it to a good buddy -- I bought while in Japan but I believe I ordered it from a catalog and it came in from abroad. France, I assume.
Actually I still have a little bitty one that I do recall ordering from a California-based company about ten or 12 years ago. I think that company, where I got the little one anyway, was called The Territory Ahead. Yep. Looks like nowdays they are still selling a Laguiole corkscrew gizmo: The Territory Ahead - Chateau Laguiole Waiter's Knife customer reviews - product reviews - read top consumer ratings
I have been in French restaurants in Tokyo that use them for table setting knives. The knives look just like an open pocket knife, but cannot be closed. (I always have an urge to swipe 'em that I need to stifle!)

I do collect revolvers. But sometimes I step on the sidepad of knives.
This knive is special. It is an Thornhill knive from about 1880.
It isnt a pocket knive but a huntingknive. hat stroke me is the beautiful craftmanship on this knive. It is a fore runner of the Swiss Army knive and all the tools are complete and functional. I dont know the purpose of all tools yet, but I will find that out to. It ia a rather costly knive but I treassure it and enjoy it very much.
Thanks Hawkeye10 for the instructions to place the pics.

Thuer-
How severe are Dutch knife laws? Can you carry all of those?

Yes. I can carry any of those. Except if the Major of the city pointed out a specific neighborhood where it is forbidden to carry because the have problems with stabbing incidents. This gives the police the freedom to examines you on your clothes.
In Amsterdam it is completely forbidden to carry a knife. It is local laws. I always carry my Spyderco Calypso and haven’t any problem to do so.

Thuer, nice knife. I sure would like to hear more about the maker and blade markings. Retailers?
Your knife has a main blade with "soft" clip, punch(sometimes described as a leather punch), corkscrew, button hook(also sometimes called a stone hook, used for digging out little pebbles from horse hooves), fruit knife blade(how a gentleman ate an apple or whatever back in the day), tweezers, utility pick and scissors.

I never thought myself a collector of knives, yet somehow I have a pretty good box full of em. I like case`s, have some bucks, but I think this Moki Lakota seems to be my favorite. I also have this buck chief yellow horse with a chipped flint looking blade, but it`s too exspendsive to use. Love the looks though!

Thanks bk43. I do have the information from the book "The London Knive book"
Thornhill was the cutler. I have to dig in more, but they made this kind of knives from about 1859 and called it the "Wingfield knife".
The blade is marked accordingly.

Feral, that Buck chief yellow horse is really neat. Yours is the only one I've seen.
Do you have any idea how old it is?

Seems to me I bought this one at a gun show around 1983. I remember them being advertised in gun rags etc around the late 70s, early 80s. They used to advertise also a belt knife that was another version of my foulder that I really wanted but they were exorbinate, seems even in those days. Here is something I googled on them. I belive yellow horse`s son or nephew is still makeing them.

Thanks. I've read that Denmark has awful knife laws. I guess the Swiss are probably the most lenient in Europe?
BTW, I always enjoy your posts, and I do know who Thuer was. You can't count on that on a non-Colt forum.
