Default Mystery Revolver

Well we know it is not a model 10 Smith but even though looks similar, it is an imposter.
Really cannot find any readable markings except the SN 13XXX. The diamond magnas were on it. I think it is one of the Spanish clones but I'm guessing. Let the knowledge come forth!
Who made this?

No knowledge here, but your guess is also mine. Looks Spanish, and perhaps not one of the well-known makers.

Some experts will be here soon, I'm sure.

Spanish proofed and I'd suspect Spanish made from the S&W outward appearance and Colt style mainspring lockwork.

The very first proof mark on the frame ring looks like a Crown / Shield w/X inside. Blurred from a refinish but enough of it is there if you enlarge the pic to ID it.
That is the Eibar/Spain Govt Proof House submission for proof marking used before April 1931.

The Crown denotes the King of Spain still in power in the country (Alphonso XIII).
After that April/1931 time he was forced to leave the throne in Spain and that proof mark was changed to a Knights Helmet over Shield w/an X inside it with the establishment of the Spanish Republic

The Knights Helmet/Shield w/X remained the Eibar submission for Proof mark after that for all firearms submitted for proof.

As far as a maker, you have to search the gun for a Makers Mark, often a 2 letter stamping inside a circle or oval is all you have to go on with many of the small makers.
A refinished gun may have lost the marking in the refinishing process.

There were 100's of makers, the better and more proficient of them would mark their names on the bbl's generally or a grip medallion would give a clue to the mfg'r.
Like the hundreds of small Belgian makers, trying to track down one of the small volume makers can be time consuming but not impossible. There are quite a few lists of Spanish handgun makers on the net from that era. Most will list semiauto pistols but there revolver makers as well.

It's Spanish and also looks like a chop job on barrel.

It's a Swolt...just kidding as others have said it is a Spanish knock off. The grips might have some value if they haven't been messed with too much.

Are you talking about the French military maker’s code (see attached) or is there another similar type of mark? I’ve not seen one like this on a revolver before.

Indeed, it almost looks like someone wanted to copy a chopped ex-British Service Revolver, because the Spanish did put the frontal lug on their S&W copies. I do believe this was cut later.

Would anyone venture a guess as to sale value or is this a keeper until the next buyback event?

I would feel guilty if I sold that to some one. Wait until 2020 and get a pair of sneakers for it.

Keep the grips and wrap the grip frame in duct tape to give it a sinister
look. Should be worth $100 to those smart folks at gun buyback events
anxious to get such evil guns "off the street".
