Default Need Help with Dan Wesson purchase

Hi all, I'm in need of some help with this Dan Wesson before I make an offer. I'm new to the gun game, I've read Dan Wessons are good guns but have no personal experience to how they are good or why. Can I have your expert opinions on this? it looks like it comes with 6 barrels, two of each 4", 6" and 8" What do you think their value be?

The ad is as follows:

It's a 44magnum

It comes with everthing you see on bottom pic. $1,300 or make me an offer. Gun in really great shape. I've only put 100 or so rounds thru it mostly with the 8" ported barrle. Befor me i don't know how many rounds but it is still pretty tight and accurate. It comes with scope and mount made by bushnell for hand guns and rail mount. Will send pics with scope if intrested. Also have box that fits in case to hold ammo, tool to change barrels, depth gauge extra awsome wood grip, and speed loader. You have a total of six gun combos. Two 4",two 6" and two 8"Gun was made in monson , mass s/n:sb00xxxx I would like to get 1,300 for it but we will see what the market wiil bare.

What caliber? They were made in everything from .22 up to the huge SuperMags. It makes a difference in the price.

The Monson Ma guns are considered some of the best.

The price quoted seems high to me...no matter what caliber it is.

I've got a .22 and its a tack driver. I also have a 357max SuperMag. I love them both.

Here's a Supermag next to an N frame Smith 629:

A couple of years ago I passed on a set up like you describe, minus the scope, for $700.

Times and prices change but not that much, I don't think. MHO.

Keep looking, for whatever reason Dan Wesson prices are lower then a S-W or Colt of the same type. I picked up a very nice mid 80's .357 for $325 several months ago. There are many good guns out there for $1,300, but not that one.

I think that would be a good price if it is in good shape.

You'll suffer 'Buyer's Remorse'. There is the Dan Wesson Law: "Buy a DW and you will own it for Life -- cause you can't sell it!"

There are lots of positive comments about strength, accuracy, reliability; but no one talks about saleability. You will only be able to sell it to another DW owner.

NOT for $1,300 !!!

I've had a couple of the pistol packs; they are factory fitted sets with a certain complement of accessories. I've had a lone 6" 357 also.

Shooting DW revolvers is a pleasure and the ones I've had were very accurate.

However, a double set of each barrel length is very redundant, and IMHO does not add to any reason I'd want one in the first place.

New 44 barrels for DW as the of the last I checked last fall, ranging from $150 on upwards to around $250 asking price. Used ones considerably less.

Unless you have the jones for a DW set, IMHO that's way too plenty asking price....unless it's a mint unfired set in factory case with all the goodies, including factory wrapping paper.

But it's your money and I don't have a vote in this.
