TIP OF THE HAT TO SOG KNIVES!
Over the weekend, we headed toward the coast for a few days to hang out at the beach and inland in Wilmington, in part to commemorate July 4th by visiting the U.S.S North Carolina. In any event, I had purchased a few knives from "Hiram..." off of the forum one being an SOG Flash II. I decided to take the SOG along (and of course an appropriate CCW as well) for the trip.
On the first day, I clipped the SOG on my trunks and we headed to the beach. Well, I forgot to take it off when I went in the water so it stayed submerged in salt water for all of the day. When we got back to the hotel, I gave it a quick rinse and forgot about it. Day two: went to the ocean again, left my SOG on my trunks again, so it stayed submerged for a second day in salt water. The difference is, by the time we got back to the hotel, we quickly rinsed off, I unclipped my SOG from my trunks, clipped it to my slacks (unrinsed) and headed to dinner. And so, it has stayed in this state of "neglect" until today at which time I felt compelled to share with you before and after pictures. If you can't tell the difference, it is because there isn't any. This great little knife was basically left salt water soaked for two days and carried for three with nary a speck to show for it. Based on my experience (this is my first SOG), I'll certainly give them my business in the future! NICE KNIFE SOG!!

Is that red tinge along the edge, in the second picture, rust starting or just a trick of the light?

Alpo,
Naught but a trick of the light. No rust anywhere on the blade.

If your knife has been exposed to salt water, don't just rinse it. Scrub it off with a sponge, toothbrush, even your finger.
My son told me this after spending some time in the ocean as a SCUBA diver. His knife didn't rust, as did those carried by others. He uses Break-Free on it, too.
The issue seems to be that just rinsing without rubbing may leave a residue of salt on the blade.

Texas Star,
Thanks for the tip. I have since given it a thorough cleaning but just had to share the fact that it made it virtually unscathed. I never thought of using Break-free though.

I carry the trident with the line cutter notch in the handle. and I agree it is a great knife.and I love how fast it opens with ease.
