Default Bought a knife at the gun show last weekend

Randall Model 12-9. The guy that I bought it from said that it was made in the 70's.

That looks sweet!! I get away from carrying extra weight, but that looks like a serious tool disguised as art.

I have a similar vintage. Think mine is a model 22? Not as big as yours.

As long as you don't start bringing a knife to a gunfight, you done good.

That's a real nice looking piece of work.

Can't tell in the photo if the handle is leather or black Micarta. Which? The butt cap/pommel looks brass, not Duralumin. That should help to balance the heavy blade.

Although this is heavier than I'd probably use, it is a remarkable knife of its sort, and a real collectible that has already gained a lot in value. Congratulations!

Black Micarta

pommel is brass

I do not plan on carrying it too often.

If this is your first Randall, then welcome to the club. If you have other Randalls, then you did good and I know you're smiling.

Welcome to the "unofficial" Randall collectors Society. It won't be your last one!

I have a #8, I bought in the early 80's==that was the first of several. It's done at least 3 elk, a dozen deer and well over a dozen wild hogs.

He was sitting there when I bought it. I think I beat him to it.

He has requested that I put it in my will so that he can wish for my demise.

And let me guess. You'll wear it every time you plan on seeing Charlie? Just to rub it in? Guess he'll need to just go out and blow the grand $$ to buy one for himself.

Its a nice knife. Big enough to be recognized as a real knife, not a toy.

I have had three Randall's. #2, #14(stolen), & #10. I was lucky. I could stop off in Orlando and peruse the factory on my way back to my duty station(s)..

My field companions,, always carried,, back when I did childish things..

A friend of mine carried one of the big #12(??) Bowies.
We would bust his ***** about the dam "broadsward" he carried..
When you're humping 80-90 lbs of stuff,, what's another 3lbs???

Hey leezana Joe, I've got a plan for you. Next time Charlie comes to visit, tell him your gonna have a cook out. Buy a couple of steaks and set the table. At Charlie's setting, put out a steak knife. The kind we used to get at filling stations when we were teenagers. You know, Shell station specials with a $5.00 fill up? Then put a similar one at the plate your going to sit at. Except when you sit down to eat, toss your little play steak knife on the ground and haul out your real knife! 'cept now it won't work 'cause Charlie reads all these posts!

DO NOT PUT THAT RANDALL IN YOUR WILL !!!!
Your life won't be worth a plug nickel. They'll cancel your life insurance.

That is a big hand guard on it!! One of the CPT's in Baghdad carried a model 14 everywhere. I asked him about it and it was his dad's. He told me since he had no faith in the "Dang Berretta, I could at least draw blood" He also told me his dad expected it back, carried a lot, but not used was preferrable!!
