Let`s see some M1 Garands
I`d bet more than a few here have some of these fantastic old rifles stashed away.
The one below is of IH manufacture. Has been rebuilt with a Springfield barrel.

i have 2 CMP garands, they get shot often and are a
blast. everytime i handle a garand i can only think of
who carried it in battle. they are history that i have
the privilege of owning and shooting from time to time.
everyone that is a gun person should have at least one
in there collection. you don't know what your missing!!

Has anyone been to the CMP store in Alabama recently. I may close enough for a slight detour in a few weeks.
I've put off buying a Garand long enough.

This is my (then) DCM Garand I got in the early 80s, $112.70 delivered to Anchorage. Early SA Ser # 306xxx.
I was shooting for the guard at the time. It arrived on Thursday, on Friday I was leaving for a Rifle Match in Hawaii. I figured, "what the heck" and took my M14 out of the case and replaced it with the M1. The first round I fired out of my new M1 was the sigters at the 200 yard standing stage. Didn't do to bad if I remember right.
Every red blooded American should have at least one Garand.
Still have it, and it still shoots.

The first is a Springfield Armory "Special" that was rebuilt by the CMP. I bought it last year at Camp Perry. Shoots like a dream. It was restored to its original issue condition.
The second is a custom-made Garand that I found at a local gunsmith's shop. This one is chambered in 7.62mm NATO, and has Redfield sights; Palma rear, and Olympic front. Shoots sub-moa at 200 yards. Originally built as a NRA high power rifle. The receiver is not GI. Custom forged.
The third is a SA National Match M1A. It will also shoot sub-moa at 200 yards.

Been shooting them off and on since about 1960; one is looking down from the wall as I type this. The Garand is right up there with the bald eagle as an American icon!
