They take 5900 series mags. If you are looking at the Marlin, make sure you check the bolt buffer in the rear of the frame. They have a tendency to break and the broken pieces can tie up the gun. Had it happen to me. IIRC Power Custom makes a good replacement part.

If you wish to compare pricing there are 8 or 9 currently on that auction site which shall not be named but the initials are GB. Most are north of the price you mentioned, and if yours is local you've saved on shipping and transfer fee.
Last one my LGS had was sold for $689.

They also take the M659 magazines.
That's a WOW! on the prices-I paid $200 (?) for mine in 1990.

I paid $400 for mine last year. That was like new, no box. Shoots great, looks very Untactical. I like that. Most people mistake it for a 10/22.
I put 50 rds through it and the factory buffer showed noticeable deformation.
On advice of MY experts I ordered a new buffer and recoil spring.
I ordered from 'Blackjack Buffers'. Their model '821-B Spring and Buffer Kit'. This includes their buffer (blue) and a Wollf 21# extra power recoil spring. $24.50 shipped.
I've put 400 rds through it with the new buffer and it still looks like new. The heavier spring is recommended for use with '+P' ammo. It is flawless with anything from WinWB to Cor-Bon +P.
It groups Slightly better with 124-147 gr but not enough to buy special ammo just to feed the Marlin.
As you can tell, I don't like the Camp 9 at all! But you ain't gonna get mine for no $500!

I had one years ago in 9mm. Bought it brand new from K-Mart. Also bought a Ramline 669 smith mag for it that if you got any dirt in the mag it would gum up. Never had a problem with the factory mag. I shot all sorts of loads out of it. Did not like subsonic 147 hollow point at all. Jam every other round. I could never get it to group. Shot all over the place. Awfull accuracy. Eventually traded it at a gunshop, all back in the 90's. I can't believe the following they have now.

Over a period of twentyfive years I have owned at least three Camp 9s. I came across a 9N, brushed nickel, version a year or so ago. This one, I will hang on to. Most will advise replacing the buffer and going to a heavier recoil spring. They Are Asolutely Right, IMHO. My latest carbine looked like new. The buffer was brittle though, and began to break into little pieces as I was removing it. I also run the Wolff 21# recoil spring. My carbine, and the previous ones, function 100% with light to +P+ loads using the 21# spring. The S&W 5900 and 6900 series magazines work perfectly in my Camp 9. The shorter 6906 magazine fits like it was made for the Marlin.
I have not seen many Camp 9s offered for sale, especially clean ones, for less than the figure you mentioned. They are just fun, reliable and very accurate plinkers.

I did the BlackJack buffer/spring upgrade to this one and it shoots good.
I like these Ruger PC9s pretty well too.

Sir, $489 seems a little high for the 9 mm version. Around here, they typically sell in the $350 range, and a buddy of mine got one for $325 several months ago. The .45 versions are much higher--$600-ish is common.
The Camp 9 does indeed use 5900 type magazines, though my buddy's gun is picky about mags. The advice to replace the factory buffer is spot on--the one in his gun disintegrated on the first range trip. The factory piece was like a hard urethane, and the new one was more like hard silicone. Disassembly and reassembly are not entirely straightforward.
Neat little gun, though, and plenty accurate enough for pop cans at 50-ish yards.
Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.
